Continental Carry-On on International Flight

I am looking for some new luggage and I am wondering if anyone has been hassled with taking a Continental size carry -on on foreign (Non US and Can) flights? Its only a a small difference between the International Carry-On size vs the Continental Size and I wouldnt mind the extra room only if it wont be a huge issue.

What is considered a continental size carry-on?

I have the B&R domestic baseline carry-on and had no issues with it flying on Air France to CDG and TPE. I thought about getting the international version, but it seems a bit wide, so may have bit of an issue fitting sideways on CRJs without gate checking.

I've used a domestic sized carry-on on international flights and so far no issues. I've even used mountaineering backpacks which are a fair bit larger than your standard carry on and I wasn't forced to check them in.

The only place I recall an issue were the ultra-low-cost carriers like EasyJet/RyanAir that highly enforce their luggage rules since everything is charged, but even then depends which attendant you deal with as I've been let in once with my backpack.

Honestly … every airline seems to have different rules
So smaller is better

I’d never buy a larger sized carry on …
In hopes that it MIGHT pass
Cuz if it doesn’t
That’s an EXPENSIVE change
(Like $ 50+ for a second checked bag )

I have even seen airlines here in NA
Pretty picky about sizing
And their test boxes / frames at the airport

You fail … you check it
HEADACHE

One easily avoided IMO
