Converting Virtual Visa Card in USD to CAD Cash

Hi everyone,

My flight was overbooked and I volunteered to take a later flight. As a compensation I received a Virtual Visa Card in the amount of $800 USD.

Is there any easy way to convert this USD $800 to CAD and transfer it to my bank account?

Canada, Eh!!
Could you not buy a CAD gift card with this? Not cash but like a Costco card or similar?

Or add to paypal and then pay yourself to bank acct?

Sure other folks will have better answers :)

July 13, 2017 to October 25, 2018: BOC raised rates 5 times and MCAP raised its prime rate next day each time.

2020: BOC dropped rates 3 times and MCAP waited and waited to drop its prime rate to include all 3 drops.

@Germack any FTF on that card? If no FTF, I'd just spend it out and call it a day. If there's FTF, then use it on online USD spend. If you can't spend it that fast, any way to get a PIN and withdraw from ATM?

Thanks everyone.

I like the Paypal idea. It will cost 2.9% (Paypal fee) + 2.5% (currency conversion) = 5.4% and I have the cash in my bank account.

Purchasing Canadian goods with my credit card will cost 2.5% (currency conversion) + 2% ("lost" cash back from my regular credit card) = 4.5%

Spending it on goods in USD is the cheapest way, but I have nothing to spend it on and the credit card will expire in 6 months.
