Cordless kettle?

Whats the point of a cordless kettle? There is no such thing. You need power to boil the water thus you need a cord somehow. Either on a base or connected to the kettle. I have had two kettles with a base and actually dislike them.

Are you going to complain that wireless chargers aren't really wireless too?
Nobody wants to carry a kettle around with a cord to the sink to fill it up with water and plug it in every single time they boil water... that's the point of a cordless kettle.

To needlessly contribute to landfills.

Not complaining. Originally it confused me. Its purely marketing by calling them cordless.

The kettle does not have a cord. The base is "corded".

If you have a stove to heat a stove top kettle...the stove is the base and it's corded [power and or gas] as well.

There used to be electric kettles with cords and no base a few decades ago. So, with the advent of cordless kettles, u would have preferred to call them something else? I do not know the tech terminology behind these new kettles. Is it electro-magnetic induction?

If they're confused with cordless kettles I wonder how they out with cordless phones?
Could the old phones mounted on the kitchen wall be called cordless or are the ones you plug a cord into the receptacle for power so you move about the house be called cordless?

kettles use a lot of hydro, so not sure if theres enough batteries to juice up such a thing, if someone wants to invent it or it was alredy invented, well fugget about buying it! not worth it in my humble opinion

In this case then there are no cordless drill or cordless tools. Cordless phone or even cellphone.

All electronic devices need power source.

It's not marketing .
I don't find a cord hanging on my cordless kettle . Just the base has a cord.
I don't really understand what is your complain

A cordless drill or other tool, cordless phone, cell phone, performs its intended function when it is NOT connected to a cord as they are powered by a battery. A cordless kettle does not function when off its base and is not powered by a battery.

And, no, the base is not inductive - it uses electric contacts from base to the pot the connect the plain old electric current to the heating element in the pot.

That said, companies like Black + Decker generally refer to them in the product listings as Electric Kettle and in the description as "cordless" when referring to the actual pot which lifts off the corded base. It is a bit of a semantic tangle, but what else would you call it?
