Core i3-8130U 4gb 128ssd vs core i5 10210u 8gb 256ssd - worth a $200 difference

Hey rfders,

I'm in the market for a new computer and I've narrowed it down to two models. Most of its usage will be for work tasks and web browsing, but my son has been wanting to put some photography programs on his existing laptop but they require a minimum 8gb ram which his laptop doesn't have.

So my question is, based on the main specs listed in the subject, is it worth a $200 difference for double the ram and hard drive?

Also, I believe the core i3 model states that the memory can be upgraded to 8gb if that matters.

Thank you!

If it was me I would get the fastest processor, most memory, largest SSD I can afford. So yes, it would definitely be worth $200.

WIthout a doubt yes. the I5 is almost 2x as fast. 128GB for the OS is barely enough and 4GB is not recommended minimum for Windows 10. Go with the upgrade. You'd be making a mistake going with the substandard specs.

i wouldnt even consider anything with less than 8gb in 2020

regular browsing requires 1GB min.
