Hey so i just got hired at a place and I found out there's an EPP through Telus. I'm currently with Rogers.

If I called up Rogers do you think they would be open to making a deal for me to stay?
Nope, as stated in previous post I’ve been with them since 2005 and they only offered me a $100 credit but would not match anything else. In the long run, Telus is better as the plan is $13 cheaper than Rogers and it is for infinite data - currently at Telus porting my number ! These phone companies ain’t loyal so you shouldn’t be either!!

Decided to pull the trigger on the Telus deal after being with Rogers for over a decade. Currently with an iPhone 6 Plus on a corporate 10GB plan for $65. I don't like what coming down the pipe for the 2019 iPhone and mine is showing signs of age. Felt like the price for the iPhone XS Max 256gb was worth the price seeing as I have been BYOD devices for years and the same device straight from Apple is $1729 pre-tax.

Went with the 50GB Peace of Mind plan for $87.50 as I regularly have to regulate my data usage since I usually hit my monthly 10GB allowance on my current plan. 50GB seems like alot now, but I don't think these large data bucket plans are going to get any cheaper in the future. Might as well lock it down now.

As for the phone, here were my calculations for the iPhone XS Max 256:
Upfront cost: $0
Device tax: $113.04
Device payment plan: $573.35 ($21.33*1.12*24)
Bring it back: $405.44 ($362*1.12)
Total Device Cost After Tax: $1091.83 - $300 in bill credits = $791.83

I was told by live chat on Aug 9th that the bill credits were no longer being offered. Did you get confirmation on the credits?

Why did you not do the “Bring It Back”?

It’s a good feature is it not? I mean, most of us would want a new phone after 2 years. I am just curious why you did not participate in that program.

I guess another question: Does anyone know how long this Telus promo is lasting?

I have to wait until Friday to get my first paystub to confirm my employment.

I'm not sure if I understand the Bring It Back program 100% but what it sounds like to me is that its effectively Telus buying back your phone for whatever the discounted cost is, and depending on your phone model it may not be worth it? But it looks like theres zero commitment as you can opt in now and decide in the next 2 years whether to keep the phone...just don't think there's much value to it esp if you get the iPhone max or s10+ where you might get more for it elsewhere

Telus doesn't buy back the phone.
It's a lease program. You never own phone unless you pay the buyout price. Otherwise Telus owns the device and you must return it after 24mo.

In most cases, it works out better to not go with lease. You can almost always sell the phone for more money on Kijiji
