Tried hard to read through this 60 page + thread but still unsure about this deal.
  • I'm actually on a BYOP plan with Bell (QC) and still using a Galaxy Edge S7.
  • Was Planning on buying a Galaxy Note 9 128 GB (from PDAPlaza (±$650)) or S10+ (not on sale right now).
  • I have access to the Telus EPP plan.
If I understand this deal correctly, I could subscribe to a Peace of Mind Plan (10GB) for $58.50/month and select the Samsung Galaxy S10+ for an additional $13/month.
Am I correct in assuming that after 24 months the Samsung Galaxy S10+ will have cost me $312 ($13 x 24) (before taxes) + the difference between my actual Bell BYOP plan ($45.46) and the Telus Peace of Mind Plan ($58.50) , which is $13.04/month x 24 months = $312.96 for a grand total of $624.96 (before taxes) ?
What's your current monthly plan with Bell?

Ah okay.

If you stay Bell you'd be $45.46/month + $650 for the Note 9. After 24 months your total cost would be $1741.04 plus taxes.

If you went Telus with the S10+ you'd be $71.50/month. After 24 months your total cost would be $1716 plus taxes.

So very little difference in overall cost between the 2 options.

There's 2 things I would consider that will help determine if you should switch.

1. Would you rather the Note 9 or the S10+? They're similar phones, the S10+ is just a little newer and has no s-pen.

2. Do you expect to use more than 6GB of data a month? If yes then Telus is the better option.

Does anyone know if the 30% off in market plans at Bell will apply to multiple lines or is it just for the primary line?
Multiple. I got it for my wife and I. Up to 5 Lines

Thanks for the recalculation :-) Makes it easier to compare !
I was concerned about some sort of balance after 24 months but there's none.

No problem. You're correct that there's no balance owed at the end.

That's exactly how it works.

You pay tax on the $312 and the activation fee. Then you will pay $58.5+tax + $13 per month.

Ahhhh ….. tax on $312 only ! And just out of curiosity, why no tax on the remaining $13 per month ?
If someone knows the answer, what would be the balance payable on the phone if cancelling the Telus plan after 12 months ?

Because the $312 is just the total of the $13/month payments. So you already pay that tax upfront.

and if you cancel after 12 months, you would owe the whole device balance, including paying the remaining balance of the discount given.

Can anyone confirm if Telus offers the Easy Roam option on the EPP Simple Share plan? The plan outlines "US ROAMING $1.50/minute and $5/MB"

Also, on the Telus website it says all Easy Share plans qualify for the Easy Roam option, but the EPP plan is called SIMPLE share.
Yes $8US and $12 Int’l per day

So I managed to get the same s10+ deal as others.

My question is, if we choose bring it back, what will be owe on the phone? Is the amount owing going to be the same as if we didn't have the EPP?

For all intents and purposes it's really a deferred payment program.

It's ($13-$4.25)*24 = $210
