30% is ONLY on the share everything plan ($115 10gb - 30%)

The new “unlimited” plan is 10%

I called in and signed up for the plan on July 31 and have been paying for the share everything edge 40 tab plan pricing at 30% off without a device since.

I am confused with Rogers new plans and the 30% discount. I have a business share plan with 4 lines. 80 for first line and 42/each additional. Extra data is $10/4gb.

I am up for renewal next month and wondering what the best plans are right now and what I should be looking for.

Thanks

Currently with Bell but started working for a Bank and I now have access to Telus and Rogers EPP. I want to get the IPhone 11 Pro and obviously the deals suck right now I’m trying to figure out what the best bet would be. My thinking is Black Friday is going to be crazy busy so I should save time and switch my account over to one of the 2 EPPs now. Then just do a HUP on Black Friday? Any recommendations the EPP offers seem pretty standard. Am I better just going elsewhere?

Basically the same but just renamed and more clearly separated from the plan (remember how the level of Tab used to be depended on the price of the plan?).

Say you have a $960 phone. If you divide that cost over 24 months you get $40/month. The $40 monthly payment reduces the amount owing on the phone each month. At any time you can pay off the balance. It's basically a $960 loan at 0% interest that you pay off in equal monthly installments of $40.

Switched from Telus (I got an iPhone X from them in October 2017 with all its price subsidized but now I can see that Telus has changed their approach and it’s no longer interesting for me to stay with them). I got an iPhone 11Pro 64 Gb with “bring it back” option ($450 deferred) for $67 (taxes) and an 14Gb edge 40 plan (QC) for $71.50 plus tax. Seems to be a very good deal to me.

Signed up for the Rogers EPP:

10 GB - 80.50/Month

iPhone 11 Pro Max

$590 + Tax Upfront = $666.70

Not bad since I can sell my X to make up for that cost.

Edit: Ontario!

$590 out of pocket

$80/10gb plan for 2 years

10gb plan goes for $60 usually

$20 x 24months = $480

$480 + $590 = you do the math.

Better yet, sell my current iPhone XR for $600 minimum (which I got for free thru the Koodo promo after selling my existing device) and my cost is under $500 for the new phone.
Have you gotten your first invoice? I'd love a screenshot. Don't misunderstand my tone, I'm not questioning what you are saying. I just don't understand how Rogers gets to those numbers unless my portal is completely wrong and if that's what you are getting I want it as well!

This is the math I see from my portal:

The iPhone 11 Pro Max 64GB is listed as $1550 by Rogers. An upfront amount of $590 corresponds to the Edge 40. I think we can agree that using those numbers we get $590 + $40/month x 24 months = $1550

Regarding your plan, the Infinite 10GB+ plan actually goes for $75 normally and with EPP gets a 10% discount bringing the price down to $67.50. What your numbers suggest is that you're getting a 20% discount on the plan ($75 --> $60). Is your EPP through a bank? They always get higher discounts so if you are getting 20% then that would explain it.

The device pricing still makes no sense to me (again, good on you if that's what you got). By the numbers you are getting Edge 40 upfront pricing but only Edge 20 monthly payments on the device (upfront on Edge 20 should be $989). Maybe they are factoring in the $300 credit and extra $15 rebate since you didn't mention those separately? $989 - $315 = $674. If they discount the device by $84 upfront then you can get to $590 initially followed by monthly payments of $20.

I wish Rogers was more consistent and transparent when putting together these numbers. It always seems like they are just shuffling things around.

The monthly charge is 75 plus 40 for the tab less 35% discount which brings the price down to $74.75 is what the agent told me over the phone.

On the monthly bill, is the device subsidy broken out as a separate line item? Previously it is rolled into the monthly plan and a separate "device subsidy" balance keeps track of the remaining subsidy as it gets reduced by $40 on every bill. So on the bill now, does it have two separate line items--1 for the plan and 2 for the device tab? The reason I ask is that my cellphone bill is paid by my company and I have to expense it every month. It is easier right now to include the phone subsidy in the expense claim and get my company to pay for that because it's rolled into the monthly rate. If on the new tab plans, the monthly rate & phone cost is broken out separately, then my company may not reimburse me for the phone portion.

Kranberry wrote: Telus EPP may be fair for you. But not my Telus EPP

Here's what I get for iPhone 11 MAX 256GB for handset cost only

Telus - $1706.08 + taxes (doesn't matter what plan I choose)
Rogers - $1270 + taxes (for 70/6GB plan)
Rogers - $1070 + taxes (for 75/8GB plan)
Apple - $1729 + taxes (obviously no plan needed)

So for my Telus EPP I save $26 on a 2 year term. That's just over $1 a month, thanks Telus!!!

Here's the response from my Telus EPP

"Unfortunately, this is the best rate we have for the iPhone 11 Pro MAX 256GB, what we offer is $0 upfront on the device."

Wow. Really. I mentioned the Rogers prices and his response was.

"Thanks you for your interest!"

Thanks but no thanks
I said more fair with Telus in terms of the price of the device being consistent regardless of the upfront payment amount. I did not say that the cost of the phone was lower, which you are conflating with fair.

Are you getting the Rogers numbers from one of the crappy wirelessdealer.ca portals? That's where those 6GB and 8GB plans show up for me (there is also a $90 10GB plan). What's frustrating is that from that portal you get $1270 and $90 for the 10GB plan. From a different Rogers portal the comparable is $1189 with a $95 10GB plan (it's a $75 plan + $20 monthly for the phone). The numbers shouldn't differ depending on the dealer because the EPP discounts are the same (I have confirmed what they should be).

Your $1706 from Telus doesn't separate out the monthly payment. For a comparable upfront and plan amount my Telus portal shows $1126 upfront + $24.17 monthly for the phone, which if you add to the $67.50 10GB plan is $91.67/month.

So for 10GB plans I see the following payments (including the 10% EPP discount on plans where applicable):

Rogers: $1270 upfront + monthly $90 plan+phone (no idea what the plan amount and phone amounts actually are)
Rogers: $1189 upfront + monthly $67.50 plan + $20 phone (total $87.50)
Telus: $1126 upfront + monthly $67.50 plan + $24.17 phone (total $91.67)

In this case you'd actually save $37 with the second Rogers option.

The $75 +$40 makes sense. That's the Infinite 10GB+ plan and Edge 40.

The 35% discount does not make sense. The Infinite plans are only supposed to be eligible for a 10% monthly discount. It's the Share Everything plans that are eligible for a 30% discount (maybe 35% if you're with a bank since they get higher ones).

Man, I need to call in and get one of these agents.

In this case you'd actually save $37 with the second Rogers option.
Then the word you are looking for is consistent, not fair. For me Rogers upfront of $1270 has no +phone, the $1070 has no +phone. So for me Rogers would be $1270 upfront, monthly $70 end of story.

So 2 year plan for Rogers including monthly and phone is $1270 + 24 * $70 which is $2950, Telus is $1706 + $67.50 * 24 which is $3376. So the difference is over $400 between Rogers/Telus. So you are right Rogers is inconsistent, but Telus by far has next to no discount.

You are assuming I have to pay a monthly on the phone, but I don't.

Rogers has different agreements and hence, different levels of discounts for different companies. And different deals for different provinces (dependent on their status in that province). There's nothing unfair about it. I'm paying the same price for the phone as everyone else, but only qualify for a 30% off their $115 Share Everything Edge40 plan, with no extra credits. So, it's $80.50 instead of $74.50. It's unfortunate, but not unfair. You qualify for what you qualify for.

Are these corporate plans/phones going to get better pricing anytime soon? I'm about ready to pull the trigger with Rogers, based on these numbers:

iPhone 11 64GB - $40 up front with the 10GB plan for $74.75/month on Edge40

Just comparing that to my $45/8 GB BYOD plan with Koodo, if I pro-rate the cost/gb I'm paying now it would be $56.25 for a 10GB plan equivalent, and I can use the extra 2gb a month anyways based on my usage. So 74.75 - 56.25 = $18.50 extra per month which I figure is the cost of the phone, which works out to $444 over 2 years + the $40 up front to give a total phone cost of $484 for a phone that sells brand new for $979. Am I missing anything here? It seems like a great deal and that I should make this switch. My 6s is nearing end of life and I may be able to sell it for $200-250 anyways. Thoughts?

My Rogers portal does not show these prices. I had to call to get the prices.

Myself and many other people have gotten this plan, just read thru the thread and you’ll see it.

I also don’t think you’ve done enough research as there is a lot of info missing in your post. I recommend reading this thread some more or calling Rogers for more info.

Anyone feel free to speak up if any deals come up on android phones like the S10+. The thread has taken a quick turn into the Iphone 11 EPP thread. It should almost have its own thread.

This is the email I had received from Rogersdirect for an iPhone 11 Pro Max 256GB

"Thank you for your email. you will be paying monthly $74.75 plus taxes besides upfront $810.

$300 credit is applicable only for Infinite Plans not Employment Plans.

$74.75 plan is Employment plan, not Infinite plan.

If you go for Share everything Infinite Plan, the device price will be the same for Edge 40 that is $810 plus taxes, but the Monthly price plan is $103.50 for Infinite +10 - National.

Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact us."
