The Costco $6500 Emergency Food Kit is now sold out

People laughed back in October 2019 when it was posted in the Hot Deals forum:
costco-hot-emergency-food-kit-6500-2323061/

Product:
https://www.costco.ca/chef%e2%80%99s-ba ... 25871.html

It has since sold out during the pandemic. It has a 20 year shelf life.
12060 servings divided by 3 servings per day divided by 365 days per year.
In theory, it would feed one person for 11 years.

Looking at the nutritional value, depending on the serving portions, it seems that it would have to be supplemented with calcium and vitamin C pills.
Otherwise, there may be a deficiency in those two essential nutrients.

I don't think we will get that far but its not bad. Looks like something a bank robber would buy to disappear from the grid for a few years.

BTW how are you supposed to carry this package to your hiding place? With a bobcat or a loader?

Its intended for some religions where they are required to keep a certain amount of stored food (hence religious connotation to the name "ARK") . A church would bulk order for resale to it's members.

Don't know what's worse, the company who makes the products or the people who are buying it.

Before paying that much, wouldn't you want to taste it first?

There are many similar products in the market. I wouldn't want to buy $6,500 of the wrong one.

That's what I was thinking. Imagine paying that to have it taste like sawdust

Do you think people would care about the actual taste if there was a serious attack on the food supply chain? Obviously, this emergency food supply is meant for some extreme times (I don't think we're there yet). I would think it is based on a relevant nutritional health guide and food calories to sustain a person "x" number of years.

Ingredients look very cheap. The most expensive part of this all is the packaging!!

They taste good actually. Freeze dried food is just as good as the real thing when rehydrated.
You might psychologically thjnk its worst bc its weird and looks different... but the technology of freeze drying maintains taste and texture.

Example. Banana chips. The dried ones are darker beige.
Freeze dried banana chips have the same color as banana’s and taste.
Campers have been eating it for years because its light in the backpack.

Try freeze dried lasagna, scrambled eggs & sausage, or pasta+sauce type ones... actually taste good.

Buddy when you're in the middle of an apocalypse you would eat anything, even your dead family members.
