[Costco] ($899) HP Envy x360 15.6" - Ryzen 5 4500U, 8GB RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD, AX200 WiFi 6, Includes digitizer pen

Full Specs: https://www8.hp.com/ca/en/laptops/produ ... s/35610595

This is a 15.6" alternative to the Lenovo Flex 14 - Ryzen 5 4500U deal from the other thread.

While the other laptop has 16GB ram vs 8GB here, both come with a digitizer, this includes the following extras:
- AX200 WiFi 6 network card
- 512GB NVMe SSD
- USB-C (supports USB-PD3.0, DP-alt and USB3.1 gen1)

Things to note:
- 2x4GB dual channel - 2 SODIMM slots (may need to verify)
- Bilingual backlit ANSI layout keyboard: Image of keyboard

Flex 14
- 14" Form Factor -- Big Deal for Some
- (0x) or (1x) SODIMM Slot -- Less Material for Most [16GB covers 95% of users]
- Screens are likely comparable
- Build quality is likely comparable (within earshot)
- Active Pen Inclusion (Likely)
- Fingerprint Reader (Likely) [Nod to @Behacad]

X360 15.6"
- 15.6" Form Factor -- Better Desktop Replacement Size, Still Portable
- Numpad Inclusion -- Big for Data People [Accountants, Engineers, Business-ees, Etc.]
- Costco Return and Warranty -- Ridiculous, They're too nice... unless you abuse their trust.
- (2x) SODIMM Slots [Likely] -- Supporting Dual Channel SODIMMs up to 64GB at 3200Mhz
- Active Pen Inclusion (Confirmed)
- Fingerprint Reader
- Intel AX200NGW WiFi 6 Card Installed -- Exact Card I've Recommended
- 512GB NVMe SSD -- Double the storage seen on the Flex, for some folks ... no upgrade required.
- USB-C Power Delivery + DP 1.4 -- Charging and 4K60 should be supported through USB-C

I did notice that the spec sheet lists 2x4GB ram. Perhaps it might be different than the teardown, and that the teardown is the previous generation.

Ordered for warehouse pickup on Thursday. How can you turn down with Costco's nice 3 month return policy just in case....

Cancelled my Amazon Flex 14 order without issues.

I'm 70% sure it has (2x) SODIMMs.

If you're nuts...
- (2x) 32GB 3200Mhz SODIMMs = 64GB 3200Mhz Dual Channel
- 2TB / 4TB NVMe PCIe 3.0 SSD

It uses the exact right Intel AX200NGW card apparently. Confirmed on the spec sheet I posted earlier.

I just bought the other one because the wife wanted the smaller screen but this seems like a much better deal and build quality appears to be better.

However- since I have no idea of what’s hot in the laptop game, I’ll just let redflagdealsguy chime in on every other post and make a call based on that.

Thanks, OP! I got one :)
Been looking for a tablet so I can teach remotely to my math/chem classes. This is a really good deal considering it's less than my budget of $1k.

I'm pretty sure the Flex 14 has fingerprint reader. Also, how sure are we that the ram can be upgraded? I know the 13" can't be.

If you are in it for the stylus and drawing, I would take the Lenovo over the HP as the Wacom pen is a much nicer experience than the ntrig surface-style pen of the HP.

Are you talking just about the pens themselves, or the laptops too? I don't think the Lenovo even comes with stylus.

The screen is only 45% NTSC (this means bad colours)

Thank you for the clarification.

We're not 100% sure, but see below.

In addition to the above video, they refer to the 8GB RAM as enclosed (2x4GB) which isn't a typical descriptor for embedded memory.

Indirect evidence is strongly suggestive of at least one SODIMM slot, and probably two such slots.
