[Costco] 900.49$ - Lenovo Flex 5 Laptop - Ryzen 5700U, 16GB RAM, 512 SSD, 14 inch screen

Was browsing local Costco (Moncton, NB) yesterday and came across this laptop on sale.

Processor - AMD Ryzen 5700U
Memory - 16GB
Storage - 512SSD M.2 NVMe
Screen - 14 inch IPS Touchscreen

Overall seems like a decent deal, personally what kills it is the fact it’s a Gen2 Ryzen Processor but though I would share since it’s cheaper then sale price in Lenovo’s website and more storage, Lenovo is selling it with a 256SSD for 25$ more.

Expect the hinge to break after a year or two, it's pretty common, though costco warranty might cover repairs?

I saw the same laptop yesterday in store in Ontario for the same price as online. I was going to bite. I find it hard to compare apples to apples, especially with price. Looking for a new laptop and by maintaining same processor name with different generation numbers makes it even more difficult to compare. Waiting for a hot laptop for around $1200.

Build quality of flexpad is terrible. I had one which wasn't even a year old and it started developing cracks in different places around hinges. Stay away from this line.

Amd 5700u is still Zen 2 , not much different than 5500u. Not a bad configuration , but at $900 I think it's still more expensive.

Some people want a convertible touchscreen stylus-compatible laptop.

How's that? Seems like a really powerful processor.

Not sure if I would classify a $1K laptop as a cheap laptop...

Here's a close up photo I took of it last week.

I see. I guess the photos on the product page are generic photos. That left shift key would drive me crazy. On anything larger than a 14" keyboard, it would almost be unusable for me, as I have trouble stretching/reaching with my left hand to hit the shift key properly and naturally. The narrow Enter key is no picnic either.

I have smaller 10 - 11" chromebooks with the bilingual kb, and those are less of an issue, since I'm not really doing heavy-duty touch typing on those. And on smaller kb, your hands are basically right on top of the entire kb anyway. Just my personal experience.

I bought this last year for the same price at Costco. I love it though. Has everything I want, it is lightweight, has great battery life, has a touchscreen, screen is fhd and has good brightness, has a 360 degree hinge for when I watch movies or hockey on the go. Doesn't get crazy hot. Only thing I would recommend is changing out the wifi card to wifi 6 which is also super accessible on the inside. I also get a lot of compliments on it at school.

I would not recommend the flex line. It seems to pack a lot of good things, e.g decent CPU, more than average RAM and SSD, also IPS and touchscreen potentially compatible with digitizer.

I got one about 2 years ago, I added one ram stick and replaced the wifi module.

Machine is good for the first year, and then camera stopped working, now the battery fully charged can only last 1 hour or so.

I am just saying there might some corners being cut to allow good specs at a decent price.
