[Costco] Acer A314-32P7T4

Just bought this laptop from Costco Burlington for 399.99. Couldn't find anything better in thia range.

Great deal for a kids laptop for online education purposes.

These are the netbooks of the 2020s.

They are exactly for who you say, tweens and grandparents.

I'm confident most teens would not be satisfied with this hardware, boy or girl.

Still... it's Costco, it's reputable, it's something for folks to consider off the shelf.

Yes, it was down to this or a Chromebook for that price range.

To be honest, I'm using it now and its not too bad.

With Costco 90 day returns, will evaluate in a month or 2 how it is fitting with the kids uses.

Stay away from Pentium and 4GB combo, build quality and screen is very nice though. Ultra portable as well.

I would rather buy a second hand laptop with 6th gen or above i3 processor.

400 bucks for a Pentium and 4gb of ram? This is a very bad deal.

Yep X2

For 50$ extra you already have a 15.6", 8GB of memory and a 256GB SSD. The SSD is gonna make the N5000 a lot less painful to life with.
Better laptop at BB

15.6" screen though. Portability is a feature that you pay a fair amount for. So, while yes this has better specs, it's $50 more AND has a larger screen, making it much less portable. Don't know if that's a fair trade for better specs for a lot of people. Also the one OP posted has an SSD...

That being said, I still wouldn't wish a 4gb, Pentium computer on my worst enemies. Windows can barely run idle without any programs running with 4 GBs of RAM...

This is the specs of the 15" vs 14"!

14" : 343mm x 20mm x 245mm 1.65kg
15.6" : 361mm x 23mm x 236mm 1.9kg

We are not talking Thinkpad X1 carbon specs. Entry level laptop!!!
250g that 's the weight of a bag of chips

Low price, but poor value. These Pentium N5000 notebooks tend to last a year or two before Windows 10 updates bring the system a crawl.

This is one of those times where you spend $100 or $200 more but get significantly more value.

Google Bauer Systems folks.

Mitch and Mohit are good men, they'll help you out.

They're a serious prospect for gents on a budget without much expertise.

Otherwise, if you're more self-started, go to 'Computers and Electronics' and check out my 'eBay Laptop' Resource thread.
