[Costco] Apple TV 4K 64GB (1st Gen, Old Remote) - $149.97

Saw the Apple TV 4K 64GB on clearance in Costco today (Saint John, NB). Note, this is not the new release, rather the older remote.

Note that it's one free year of Apple TV per Apple ID/Family ID.

Damn, that sucks. I activated an iPhone in mid-June and assumed that it was still 1 year. I started watching a few of Apple's original series and didn't like any of them except Tehran.

It is fair to say that Apple TV has been a partial failure as a product?

Apple could've done much more with this product, similar to what Amazon is currently pursuing on the content side.

I have had the Apple TV for free for almost a year, and the only thing I ever watched was the movie Greyhound, if I had to paid for the service I would of been very disappointed

No big loss for me except I use family sharing and quite a few family members like a lot of the Apple TV shows including Morning Show, See, Defending Jacob, and Lasso.

I agree.
I use my fireTV cube more than my Apple TV.
Contents sucks on the AppleTV.

Apple TV could have been a lot more I agree. The CPU/GPU is good enough to be a serious gaming machine but if you don't include a controller, developers won't code specifically for it (lowest common denominator problem)

Apple TV+ content is generally high quality but it still needs to grow its content and have a more diverse appeal.

Content is so subjective. I don’t care for much of what Amazon has. Meanwhile, I find some of the stuff on AppleTV+ quite enjoyable.
Also realize, Apple has only been in the game for about a year and a bit. The pandemic probably also limited production on new content.
Netflix has some really crappy stuff too, but because of their head start they have a large library of good content as well.

Also, why are the posted pics so tiny. :)

The Foundation sci-fi books by Asimov are being adapted for Apple TV - not sure when they're coming out. Might subscribe for a month to watch them when the time comes :). But yeah, the offerings are pretty sparse.
