Appletv is awesome and doesn’t overheat to cause problems like some. I own all of them. But if you want to side load apps you should avoid appletv.

For people with 4k movies in their Google library, note that the YouTube app will not play the movies in 4k or HDR/DV.
I really wish Google would add the Movies App to the Apple store.

I’ve had an Apple TV 4 32GB 1080p for about 6 years. Decided to pick up this 4K to replace it, knowing that I can most likely sell my 1080p for this price!

That's the beauty of Apple vs non-Apple products.TheCaffeinatedSloth wrote: ↑ I’ve had an Apple TV 4 32GB 1080p for about 6 years. Decided to pick up this 4K to replace it, knowing that I can most likely sell my 1080p for this price!

Darn, I thought I did well when they were clearing for 148.97 a month ago. I saw the "7" and thought it was as good as it was going to get.
It's good to standardize on the Apple ecosystem. All my TV's are a simple one remote and the splash page all are uniform and the same. Family friendly

Google play is no more, they removed it from roku too.
All my movies are in YouTube, no 4K hdr and 2.0 audio.
Bleh.

I'm sure I'll end up getting the new 4K model as soon as I see someone posting on RFD that Costco is now carrying them.
I've had the 4K version since 2017 and that version of the Siri/touch remote has caused me so much grief. I look forward to the vaste quality of life improvement provided by the new remote.

This is the only reason I grabbed a new Chromecast when Costco was clearing them at $54.97. Now, I can watch 4k HDR/DV movies in my Google library that didn't port to iTunes or were upgraded to 4k from HD by Google.jeremiahkool wrote: ↑ Google play is no more, they removed it from roku too.

I agree with most of your post but calling this remote premium is imo misleading. While the glass and metal feels nice it’s one of the worst remotes I’ve ever used. The newer ATV definitely corrects this major issue.
You will accidentally touch the home button more than once and that will immediately stop whatever you are watching/playing.
The glass trackpad is learned but for the most part slower than alternatives remotes.
That said it’s an Apple product (software/support) and still a very good to top product at this price.

I didn't notice them last week. I had seen discounted 1st gen, and didn't investigate further.TheCaffeinatedSloth wrote: ↑ I’ve seen Costco with the new Apple TV’s for quite some time. $250
I'll have to look harder.

I would assume you also get a free year of Apple TV when purchasing?
