[Costco] BIOS Diagnostics Blood Pressure Monitor with AFIB - $69.99

Costco has this blood pressure monitor for $20 off ($69.99 sale price). May possibly be a bit cheaper if available in-store.

Seems quite expensive especially with so many bad reviews there alone...

*. But I'd second the Omron mentioned already. But did see a Dr Ho one for $38-39 last week in store

Is BIOS a trusted good brand? Seems like everyone has OMRON, at doctors offices, or various medical offices that use small devices like this, I always see OMRON.

I picked up the omron 2 weeks ago (still in box). In store, that is all they had.

Never heard of BIOS before. Not saying it is not good, but curious if the AFIB option is worth it, or even how accurate/effective it is.

This is from the user manual for the Omron:
Irregular heartbeat symbol
When your monitor detects an irregular rhythm two or more times during a measurement, the irregular heartbeat symbol appears on the display along with readings.
An irregular heartbeat rhythm is defined as a rhythm that is 25% less or 25% more than the average rhythm detected while the monitor is measuring the systolic and diastolic blood pressure.
If the irregular heartbeat symbol appears with readings, consult with and follow the directions of your physician.

Also from the manual under troubleshooting:
Irregular heartbeats are detected.
Remove the arm cuff. Wait 2-3 minutes and then take another measurement. Repeat the steps in chapter 3. If this error continues to appear, contact your physician.

I recommend the Omron pictured above. Way better build quality than BIOS and Dr. Ho. Better quality plastic casing, better quality switch for multiple users, and the cuff is big/small enough to accommodate a wide range of arm sizes. Mine is about 2 years now and no problems at all. OMRON has also updated their iOS app recently to give better UI for the readings.

I think most BP monitors detect and show irregular heartbeat these days, which is the only indication of atrial fibrillation that a pressure cuff could detect. So no, it;s not a special feature.
