the non-soft sole versions (blue text) take some time to break in. the cork will eventually mould to the exact shape of your foot. Just like hiking boots, don't buy these for your vacation and wear them for the first time there.

They are uncomfortable for a week or two and become super comfortable.

I bought a pair of these a year ago. For some reason, they felt way more abrasive to my skin out of the box than any other Birks I've had. They're fine now but took far more time to break in than I thought. They were literally shredding the skin on the top of my feet for the first bit.

Maybe the leather just wasn't as soft/nice as on any of my previous Birks. I dunno. But, now they're comfy as hell and there's no foot shredding.

Just an FYI to any buyers that you may need to actually make an effort to break these particular ones in. But, once you do, they're classic, amazing Birks.

They last a long time and they slowly mold to the shape of your footbed. Ultra comfy. Those who shout that it's uncomfortable don't quite understand there's about a 2-3 week break in period. They also most likely have flat feet because there is arch support that will feel unnatural at first.

I got a pair of these exactly one year ago and they very quickly became my every day shoe for around the house. I can’t even stand waking around without them anymore. If they had my size, I’d pick up another pair for wearing out.

They are indeed but if I do any sort of distance walk I need to wear socks or else I get blisters right where the 1st strap is on both feet. Got a blister last summer that upon healing left a permanent mark.

I was lucky to grab one on Sunday for size 45, only one pair showed up when I checked and immediately bought it. Have no need for these but just bought since everyone seems to say they are so good. Package Delivered today already, will see what’s so good about them. It’s my first pair
