[Costco] Cangshan Sanford Series 6-piece Knife Set $65

I was at Costco warehouse today and spotted this set. It looks very much like global knives. Review is pretty good too.
$55 in warehouse.

All Cangshan knives are sharpened to a 16 degree angle.

Updated: I got a set myself. It looks nice. But check carefully when you pick the set. The one I pick is no good. There is sound when I shake the santoku. And there is a small chip on the blade of the paring knife. Other than that, it is razor sharp and well worth the price.

If I buy something that is not in deep discounted, my father will punish me; everyone will laugh at me. I will be the strange kid who doesn't fit in.

These are 54.99 in store right now. I bought them a few weeks back and will price match. For the price, I'm pretty happy. They're not crazy chef quality knives, but more than good enough for a few meal boxes a week and likely better than a lot of the Henkels etc... knives that are mostly just betting on their brand name.

OP. Canshan (I knew it was Chinese just by reading the pinyin) and Global are not even the same. It’s like saying a Chinese is a Japanese. Made in China vs Made in Japan.
I’d pay more for Japanese any day. I’m not rich enough to buy cheap things.

I bought Global knives from TheBay with the wooden block for 297$ and damn it’s amazing. I also have Tomodachi knives I bought from Costco and it’s not even close as sharp as Global.

If you just want average knives and you don’t want to spend too much money, I guess these will do for the price.

Made in China or Japan, they can still be Japanese style knives. These are sharpened to 16 degree. Global knives are relative soft compare to other Japanese knives. So technicially speaking they are westernized Japanese knives targeting foreign market.

If you want them to stay sharp, you need to use whetstone to sharpen it. Any knives can be sharpen well, the difference is how easy it is to sharpen it and how long it will stay sharp.
