[Costco] Circulon Hard Anodized Cookware Set, 13-piece. $229.99 after $60 discount

Was looking to buy cookware set, came across this. Don't know the quality but reviews seem good.

Is it a good deal? Experts can give their views.

It is anodized aluminum. It is not really a coating but rather a strong layer of aluminum oxide. It is as heat resistant as the aluminum itself. When aluminum "rusts", the oxide layer is hard, unlike rust on steel which is flaky. The bottom is supposedly induction stove friendly, so it is a very versatile set of cookware. This price is very good. I bought a set from the Bay long long ago for not much less.

Does the bronze version look good in person too?

Yes, kirkland cookware is made by meyers who also makes circulon. Difference is that circulon non stick has a raised circle pattern on the cooking surface. I'm not a fan of it because it means less physical contact when cooking flat food = takes longer to cook.

This non stick coating is nothing special either, expect 2yrs of regular use.

And what happens after two years? You realize that the whole non stick coating slowly ended up in you food for the past two years and you served it to your family. I don't trust these non stick pots anymore. Remember a few years ago when teflon was en vogue? And know we know ... No pfoa, no pfob, no phoe .. if will be a matter of time until there will no a no "something we say now it's safe but it turns to cause cancer".

Another difference between Kirkland ones and circulon as per website description is circulon one's are dishwasher safe. Are these really dishwasher safe?

HA aluminum itself is not dish washer safe. It must have some kind additional treatment or coating to achieve that.

With respect to the safety of anodized aluminum cookware, this is the official federal government (Health Canada) position. As for dishwasher safe, I would not risk that. Since it is non stick, hand washing should be relatively easy.
