Just wanted to try out solar that's why don't want to do big investment in it yet.

yeah I hear ya, power in my area is 6.8 cents per KWH, plus fees, fees are charged even if I don't use power.

so 175$ is 2600 KWH of power for me, that's over 5 months of power for my whole house. you would be lucky to get 1KWH every 2 days with this thing. 5200 days to generate 175$ of power. if my math is correct. probably worse in the winter months. 20 years payback would be my guess

Had a quick look I didn’t see anything that wasn’t cheaper in store.

You would need a good battery, probably 300$+ ish. Like someone mentioned, this is only for places with no power ( shed too far from house to run power, rv, camp)

Would this kind of set up be worthwhile as a backup source of energy during a power outage? Generators need fuel to operate, and fuel can be difficult to access in those situations. I live in Halifax where hurricanes are a fairly common occurrence. Several years ago, we lost our power for several days while waiting for the downed trees to be removed and the damaged hydro lines to be repaired.

Excellent price for a 6 camera 4K . 2TB. Security system. Plus it's Costco, good return policy if it stops working in a few years.
Definitely a nice price. The cameras alone are worth more than that. Can't find 6x 4K IP cams (f semi decent quality) for that price and the DVR is a nice bonus. I'd prefer Dome style, instead of bullet, but that's a personal preference. The 2TB drive would be a little limiting (for retension) if you do 6 4K streams @ h264 24/7. @ h265 it would not be too bad, but not sure if the DVR has enough horsepower for 6x h265 streams. But you can surely replace the drive later if needed. Just make sure to use an enterprise grade or security grade drive (desktop class drives will not survive long in security units). And the PoE is a must with new cameras (which these are), and makes installation a lot easier with just a single ethernet cable to power and get the data from the cameras. No need for crazy amounts of wiring.
If I hadn't just picked up 3 additional Hikvision Domes to add to my system, I may have just picked this up.

PS: Just keep in mind that from the 88° Field of View, these are all 2.8mm lenses (or equivalent). So these are quite wide angle. Great for global monitoring, but don't expect super details. The 4K, makes up for it compared to older cameras (since you can zoom in and still retain a lot of details), but it is still a wide angle.

Anyone have any opinions on the Napoleon Rogue 425 for $749? I've been looking for a decent mid-sized bbq.

Same question. My dad wants to buy a Weber e-310. But costco return policy makes me want to convince him to buy this Napoleon. I don't know anything about grills.

So unless it is a far trek / you don't have the time to go / really need the item now, chances are you will see the same stuff on sale in the warehouse at some point for a bit less.
Your point would stand, but this is a Canada day sale and they're definitely not open.
