[Costco] Costco.ca DeLonghi radiant heater - $99.99

De'Longhi High Performance Radiant Heater on sale at Costco. Regular price $129.99. sale price $99.99 until Feb 3

Model TRD40615TCA

https://www.costco.ca/De'Longhi-High-Pe ... 19907.html

I bought this same heater a few days ago from Costco.ca at regular price that just arrived today and noticed the price change. What's odd is that they changed the costco item # despite it being the same model #. Wonder if its to try and hide the possibility of a price adjustment.

Either way, if they don't price adjust I'll just return and reorder this one.

** FYI I did try to look for this in-store at the Costco in Ajax, but no luck. If you can find it in-store, it'll most likely be cheaper since $99.99 is w/ the shipping built into the price.

** Updating with a few other places that have the same model, but with a digital thermostat built in for slightly more money:

Deals below dead.

https://www.amazon.ca/Delonghi-TRD40615 ... B00G96S4Y8 - $119 (additional ebates @ 8%) - Thanks @Burak220
https://www.lowes.ca/products/view.aspx ... _-11662090 - $119 (can probably use that $10 off $50 purchase for signing up to their mailing list to bring this down to $109 + 1% ebates)

How's it working thus far? What sized room(s)? I'm interested in the comparison to the fan-style heater Costco sells that's around the sale price (regularly).

I bought this two years ago. First one has this annoying ticking sound non-stop. Returned hassle free to Costco. Second one has worked flawlessly since then. This is a great price.

Thanks. Been using a ceramic heater for a couple years. It's quite noisy.

I've been eyeing an oil filled heater due to the low noise. I'll give this a try.

Which one is better as I need a heater and can't decide.

First one is the the one OP mentioned; De'Longhi High Performance Radiant Heater for $99.99 https://www.costco.ca/De'Longhi-High-Pe ... 19907.html

The second one is also sold by Costco Ecohouzng Ceramic Hot + Cool Tower Heater for $79.99 https://www.costco.ca/Ecohouzng-Ceramic ... 59490.html

I barely could find any reviews for either. I am planning to order one by tonight so if anyone can give me any insights or advice. Thanks

The ceramic will heat the room up faster, but the trade off is the increased noise from a fan.
The oil filled will take a longer time to heat up the room, but will be near silent.

I have both OP’s oil one and lasko ceramic tower heaters. I use them for different purpose.

The tower one is good for faster heating for a medium or small size room. And the temperature will drop once it shuted down. Such as for kids bath room, play room.

The oiled one heats very slow, about 1-2 degree/hr, but it is quiet and sometimes too quiet I even forgot to turn it off. But note sometimes I notice there is a cracking sound, which could be annoying in the middle of the night. Also it keeps the room warm for a much longer time even after turned off. It is good for a large room. I can even use it for a 1000 sqrt ft basement, a garage, or main master bed room if we need to keep warm overnight.

the temperature control on the oil filled one is a bit tricky compared to the ceremic tower (the tower one also comes with a remote control). You are supposed to turn the delonghi heater all the way up and then when the temperature is warm enough you turn counterclockwise till you hear a click sound which tells the heater that is your desired temperature and stop heating. There is a delonghi digital one with digit temperature thermostat and eco mode, and I feel it would be a better choice (I don’t have that unit). It is currently on sale on lowes and amazon

One major reason I see people give bad review on the oil filled ones is the burning smell. You will need to put the new oil heater at maximum temperature for several hrs, even days in a non-living space or outside to get rid of the plastic burning smell. The ceremoc one on the other hand is ready to use out of the box.

After several years the ceremic one’s fan will be blocked by dust which would then affect the heating performance. And it is hard to disassemble and clean it as it uses special screws and it is against manufacturer instruction to open it. But the oil one will last for very long time.

Personally, because my house is warm enough, I rarely get the chance to use the oil one. Only the ceremic one when the kid plays in bonus room above the garage is too cold or after kid’s bath. But if you don’t mind the initial smell and slow to heat up, and need one to heat for larger, longer period of time, I feel the Delonghi oil one would be a better choice

1. Buy cheap, buy twice
2. Don’t buy because it’s cheap. Buy it when needed or it brings convenience/happiness/better quality in life
3. Buy now think (regret/return) later

Yes that’s the one I am talking about. I only have OP’s one and if to buy again, I would choose this digital one over the dialed one, as it has a digital thermostat and a eco mode.

But the performance wise I think they are all the same, only a different control panel. (I read review some also says temperature control is tricky plus there is a sound when pressing the button you can not mute, not sure if it is the case)

Are the oil filled heaters more energy efficient then baseboard heaters?

i have the digital delonghi oil heater and we love it. we just use it for our bedroom so we actually just keep it on all day and keep the door closed. it turns itself off when it gets to desired temperature, and back on when the temp gets low.

as stated when u buy it make sure u burn the coating off. we just opened the patio door and left it on all day, smelled for one night but was scentless ever since. the sporadic crack/click isn't loud enough to wake either of us ul in the night

Yes! Without question. We had 2 at our old townhouse. I left one on the main floor to run at low all day and night. Kept the place warm without temp fluctuations. Barely saw an increase in our Hydro bill. One eventually failed but I still have the other. Been in storage for a bit as we haven't had a need for it since moving. Our furnace in the house does a good job at heating up the place.

Heats my entire basement pretty well. Usually, my basement is hovering around 69-70F with a small electric space heater that's only really capable of heating what's it's pointed towards, while every room upstairs is at about 73-75F. Like others have pointed out, the electric space heater works well when you need some quick heat but the heat is quickly gone once you shut it off, unlike the oil radiators (as the one on sale) which stays hot/warm well after you've shut it off. This morning I took a look at my thermostat (Ecobee sensor) in the basement and it was at 78F, much warmer vs the 69-70F it was sitting at before. The basement is a decent size (bathroom, living area and a bedroom) and this heater does a good job of warming all of that.

There is a dominating smell when you turn it on for the first time, just keep it on max for 24 hours in an open/ventilated area which should get rid of it for any subsequent uses.

Thanks for all the great tip folks. I had a $50 online Costco gift card to use so I picked up the one first mentioned. But the digital one definitely would be less of a headache to use for sure

I went for DeLonghi after reading the reviews (professional) + customer based. Here is a previous thread:

delonghi-com-delonghi-space-heaters-min ... g-2159497/

https://www.pickhvac.com/space-heater/oil-filled/

https://www.hothomeair.com/best-oil-fil ... er-review/

https://www.consumersearch.com/space-he ... ce-heaters

Personally, when it comes to things that can potentially be big fire hazards, I'd rather stick to name brands I've seen pop up in multiple reviews before. I had an oil based heater when I was younger and I remember it leaking oil at the bottom, no idea what that brand was, but I'm sure it was a cheapo one since my parents were pretty frugal back then.

I have this one but I prefer my cheaper CT one with a countdown timer if possible. I usually like setting it on for a couple hours and let it turn off by itself.

Will either the digital or analog version turn back on if the power goes out?

The analog version doesn't have an on/off switch, it has a 24hour timer on the panel itself which you just pull the tabs to turn on/off to ensure its on at that specific time throughout the day, so yes, it should turn back on itself although the timer/clock may be a bit off depending on how long it's been without power.
