[Costco] Costco.ca: Hisense 13.5 cu ft. White Upright Freezer $550 ($200 OFF)

Update 2023-03-20 : Thank to @LostPhoton : The deal is alway active, but on the Costco model; 200$ OFF for orders placed 03/20/23 to 03/26/23.
https://www.costco.ca/hisense-13.5-cu-f ... 78048.html

-------------------------------------
Expired on F14D6AWD model (generic)

$400 Off valid for orders placed today and tmr (18th and 19th march 2023).
As my understanding, Costco want to clear out this model (FV14D6AWD) to make room to the specific Costco model (FV14D6CWD) that already in store (630$ in-store or 750$ delivered and installed). So the real discount is 150$ but still a good deal.

The only difference as I see is the reversible door function for the Costco model while this general model has the door handle+lock functions. Otherwise, same dimensions, same functions, not energy star but the energy consumption is 430 kWh/year which is pretty good.

You can price match with Homedepot if the product is available in your area but I would stick to Costco for installation and client service. Costco extends warranty from 1 year manufacturer to 2 years Costco.

I guess you can only order online for this model. There are 84 units by the time of this post (2023/03/13 12:30pm)

Good price. Really hard to find a frost free unit at this price.

How much do they usually go for.

Also how much do they usually go for in Costco warehouse.

Still debating if I should get an upright freezer or chest. I already got one chest freezer.

Finally is n13.5 cubic feet a good size. Hard to tell from the pictures.

You usually have to spend $800+ before upright freezers come with the defrost feature.

Upright wins for sure. It’s more space efficient and you don’t need to rummage around like a dumpster diver with chest freezers.

13 cu ft is more than plenty for a suburban family of 4 or 5. People typically get a 6 or 7 cu ft unit as a family supplemental storage.

I have one of both - I love my upright because I can see things, it’s organized and there is less waste from losing items in the abyss. However, when things are placed in an upright you can’t store as much unless all you have are boxes. Things like a package of chicken legs with an irregular top are hard to stack, in a chest freezer you just throw it in the pile. Unless you’re really creative you can’t store as much in an upright so you need more room than you think you do.

I have a big upright which is about 18 cu ft and it’s the same size as a regular fridge. A freezer that is 13.5’ would give you about half as much room as a fridge - it’s a good size but not huge if you have a big family and like to shop in bulk to save money.

How's Hisense in terms of reliability? I'm skeptical of these Chinese manufacturers, especially on something that need to be reliable

Think this can sit in a garage? Also would Costco bring it to a basement?

The product photo on Home Depot seems to have the freezer sitting in the garage.

Delivery to the basement should be possible. My laundry machine from Costco was delivered to the basement and my massage chair was delivered upstairs.

Looked into it, not garage ready if it drops below 12.8C. The official spec sheet also shows it in a garage funny enough.

I guess they put it in a heated garage..

Was about to grab it, but now I won't risk it, unless I can find reviews online.. garage gets too cold during winter. I don't understand how a freezer-only unit wouldn't run well under 12 degrees.

hmm, yeah seems like a decent deal. Yeah it is a pain to take everything out to find something, but the chest freezer is more energy efficient so I guess that is a plus.

As I mentioned I have a chest freezer (think 5 cubic feet) and a second fridge but still not enough freezer room. So maybe it would be enough space but probably one of those things I will never have enough space on as more space I have the more I will just buy.

Me too, the one comment said after 60 days it died but I have yet to see really any product on Costco get good ratings. At least you get 2 years warranty with it from costco so you will get at least 2 years but yeah you could lose all your food though I am outside once a day usually looking for food so I should be able to catch it before something bad happens (unless I am on vacation then I am screwed)

hmm, this does give me pause now as well. I right now have a chest freezer and Samsung freezer in my garage. The garage is not heated (though seems to be insulated) and being in Calgary it can go past -30 outside, but I have no clue how much it would be inside the garage.

The chest freezer and fridge have held up now for 2 winters. So I would hope this freezer could do the same but would like to hear if anyone has any experience on it.

Only two available. Hesitate between a Dandy 6ftcu and this Hisense 13ftcu then realized nobody complains that their freezer is too big Thinking Face

not sure this is a great deal the 21 cubic foot model is $799 in store or $899 online. To say the regular price on this one is $999 is ridiculous

Agree that Costco boostes the price and my OP mentioned the real discount is 150$ off cause the price should be 750$, not 1000$. The same Costco model is 630$ in store and 750$ online. For one can not or does not want to pickup in -store and save their back, this is a good deal. With delivery and installation included, it becomes 30$+taxes cheaper than ISPU.

Anyway OOS. Don't forget, Costco extends warranty from 1 year manufacturer to 2 years.
