[Costco] Costco.ca: NewAge Pro Series 4 ft. × 8 ft. Wall Mounted Steel Shelf $189.99

I thought this was a decent deal for anyone needing garage shelving. Lowes selling the same shelf for $289 or directly from manufacturer for $219 but you pay for shipping.

I bought and installed this last month. Great unit. Very solid.

I was able to install this by myself. A 2nd person would have helped, but I managed alone with using a ladder to temporarily support some of the weight.

This is regular Costco price. Has been this price for the last couple years.

Install can be done by one person/one ladder. Two people would help speed things up.
Just take a look at the installation instructions before you buy and make sure you have the right space and spacing for an easy installation.

But if anyone wants to split a 2 pack of the 2'x8' one in the Calgary area PM me! Grinning Face With Smiling Eyes
I think it's around $260 for the 2 pack to your door or $130 each.

Thoughts on practicality/usability of the wall-mounted option vs overhead storage before I go all RFD-buy-now-think-later on a couple?

I had 3 shelves on my back wall of the garage but there was not much room between the minivan and the shelves. The ceiling mounted option gives you more space.

Its a no brainer to me even at regular price. It's still much cheaper than other options that are not as solid.

Ultimately depends on your own space and where you plan to install it.

If you have the tools, personally I think DIY storage built with wood is better as it can be custom made to your space/needs.

Thats where the 2' deep one would come in handy.

for me it is just easier to find a stud and install something on the wall rather than on the ceiling, plus the wall would take more load.

Can't seem to find it online, is it in-store by any chance?

Also I'm in Ontario, not sure if it's a region specific product

Oh it's on newage direct. Not on Costco.

i was eyeing the 2x8 version, and this is definitely a great price by the 4x8. I ended up DIYing it because it was close to $300 bucks, but this is a great price.

I was thinking the same thing. If you don't need the shelf to hold lots of weight. It seems like you can build a wood frame with a plywood top plus some metal anchors and wire for a lot less.

how much did DIY cost? I'm thinking even 4 lengths of 2x4 and a sheet of 3/8" plywood plus paint and screws is already around $120 to make one shelf plus labor time. I have the tools to build my own shelving but it is big time saver to buy something you can just bolt together.

These went on sale last year. I forget exact price but something like 129 or so. Bought 5 of them for my garage. They work great and we get a lot of compliments from friends/neighbors when the garage is open. Feel very solid and honestly I'm sure I could have made something out of wood but for the price it was a no brainer for us.

How is it $120? Even at $10 a stud, a sheet of 3/8 ply is like $40. You're looking at $100 tops. I'd argue that putting one together doesn't really take more time than following the instructions and bolting these premade ones together.
