[Costco] ***UPDATED*** Costco In-Store & Online Sale! iPad Air 3rd Generation $519.99 (starts December 7th)

Good morning RFDers,

I came across this sale in the Costco members flyer. Note that the sale runs from December 7 2020 - January 3 2021.

For those of you who are looking at purchasing the iPad 8th generation, the iPad Air 3 is better in almost every respect: larger screen (10.5 in vs 10.2 in), lighter (1.0 pounds vs 1.08 pounds), better resolution (2224 x 1668 vs 2160 x 1620, although both 264 ppi), higher end screen (fully laminated, antireflective coating, wide color display, true tone display), better front camera (7 MP vs 1.2 MP, 1080p vs 720p), thinner bezels. Only real upside to the iPad 8th gen is it ships with USB C 20 W power adapter (compared to 12W adapter with the iPad air 3).

The price for the iPad 8 128 GB is $544.99 and I presume Costco is selling the 64 GB iPad Air 3 for $519.99.

FYI I bought the iPad 8 from Costco and will be returning it for the iPad Air 3.

Nice, that does seem the better way to go, was eyeing the iPad with 128gb which comes out to $545 I think.

So the Air with 64Gb should be just enough I’m hoping, gotta plan for many years of usage, my iPad 3 is almost 7 years old and still used daily by the kids.

LOL, exact same situation as you. I think it's time for a new one, they can't play any games on my old 3.

My son plays clash royale on our iPad 3 and it does a surprisingly decent job on it. What's funny is that Discord (which he uses for his Clash Royale chats) doesn't. :)

I’m guessing staples won’t match Costco on this? Hoping other places have this deal online

I will NEVER buy another Apple product as long as I live; I have an Ipad mini that i kept in pristine condition, it was working great and no issues, suddenly Greedy Apple gets involved, with an IOS update and suddenly my iPad is obsolete, cannot get or run apps, everything lags, they purposefully crippled my device - this should be illegal in every sense. My advice is to find out how long this will be supported or risk ending up with a very expensive paperweight in a year.

I just want to mention that the iPad 8th Gen is no slouch and if you purchase from Apple with the educational discount (anyone can do this) the 32GB and 128GB are $399 and $519 respectively.

If you don't need the extra storage the cost savings of the 32GB over this iPad Air is significant.

OP isn't completely comparing fairly so I'll add that the iPad 8th Gen 128GB for the same price as the this Air has double the storage.

Meanwhile my iphone from 4 years ago running ios 14 is working just fine for browsing + texting.
