I have this TV, the embedded Chromecast keeps crashing randomly with anything I stream. I had to use an external Chromecast which works fine.

The TV is ok, nothing spectacular, but works well and the price is good... Another thing to mention is that it only has 1 USB port, so you'd probably need a USB hub since you will need the USB port for the Chromecast.

Hmm pretty nice price. How does this compare to other el cheapo $300-$500 50-55" TV's?

Is this USB port for photos?

I would go with Seiki or Sharp over Haier. The Costco return and warranty helps though.

Dang, prices on TVs just keep dropping and dropping. Does anyone have a graph of year over year TV prices by screen size. It would be interesting to see what prices will be like in a few years. Maybe we will all have 65 inch 3 cm thick TVs for 500 bucks.

50" Seiki at Walmart is $268 but you would need to add the $30 extended warranty to match Costco's, which makes these the same price. (Both have 90 day return policy)

Which is the better deal?

Probably Costco. The exchange/warranty with Costco is unmatched. Walmart seems to have gotten a bit more stringent lately.

Probably not. Haier has a terrible track record... the Seiki is arguably better, albeit still low end.

Price-wise, they're comparable after adjusting for Walmart extended warranty, but again, I would go with the Walmart Seiki at $269 + Walmart Extended Warranty ($30).

Prices are getting crazy low. I bought the Hisense 65" for $599 during Christmas. Very happy now w it.

Can't think in 5 years what you could get for around this price...

It's already cheaper to buy a large TV than it is to buy large windows for a home. I'm thinking that people will replace some of the large windows in their homes with always on large TVs and save money. This would especially save lots of money in new home construction and give far better insulation due to no need for huge hole for windows that lose heat.

Colors are quite off on the Haier, banding issues are common, and other unpredictable variable faults on the panels (dead pixels, fixed pixels, visual inconsistencies).

It's playing panel roulette on steroids, and I don't recommend it.

I have this tv. The chromecast seems to randomly not work from time to time. Have to unplug and replug the tv to get it back.
The viewing angle is pretty bad also.

I have the 5 year warranty and will probably keep
It for a few years before calling it in (with the chromecast as the reason) and will move to a better set shortly thereafter. Decent value for the money. With a Netflix 4K sub the image does look really good if not viewing from a bad angle.
