@redflagdealsguy what do you think about the 55" as a monitor? Assuming that this UP7560 is the same as UP7000.

https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/lg/up7000

I believe you told me the UP7000/UP8000 was the replacement to the really good UM7300/UN7300. But... Are you concerned that this UP7560 may NOT be an IPS panel? I know that was a potential issue with previous models...

Did you by chance see whether it said IPS on the box? Some people have said that previous gen LG IPS models specifically say IPS, whereas other times, it is not an IPS even if it has the same model number *facepalm*

Also, anyone see any at Thorncliffe location?

I'm interested in a 65" < $1000 if possible.

Costco's site shows 4, but I'm not sure what's in-store here in BC:

$897.99 LG 65" - 65NANO75 - Smart 4K TV
$877.99 LG 65 in. Smart 4K TV 65UP7560
$1,097.99 LG 65 in. Smart 4K SMART TV 65UP7700
$1,097.99 LG 65 in. Smart 4K UHD TV 65UN9000

There's a very good chance that it's VA and not IPS.

LG has proven unreliable when it comes to consistently including IPS panels even within the same model of lower end TV.

The LG Nano TVs include a higher end variant of IPS consistently. Other models continue to be hit and miss.

LG used to print 4K IPS on the box if it was IPS, but who knows if they do that anymore.

A 2022 55" VA TV will make an okay PC Monitor, but the steep angles of attack at that size will result in significant perceived dimming in the far edges and corners. You'll also want to sit perpendicular to the TV, dead in the middle.

I personally prefer getting IPS if I'm looking for a good value TV PC Monitor, but some prefer VA at smaller sizes like 43".

Hope that helps.

I wouldn't buy an LG LCD TV, TBH. They're almost all pretty crap. My theory has always been they make them like that to sell more OLEDs.

Almost all LG LCD TVs are also IPS (which is largely why they make poor TVs). Why would we think this would be a VA panel? What other LG LCD is VA these days?

That does help, thanks so much. It's a hard pass for me then :(. I am specifically looking for IPS.

Still don't get why people think this is VA...from a manufacturer well-known for selling crappy IPS TVs, nearly across the board on their LCD lineup

Easy enough to tell in-store, if they have a display model, anyway. Since you have to go in-store to get this price anyway, can someone say what it really is?

Yes, in store, looking at a box would be the definitive way to tell. But no one has reported back at the moment. So... In lieu of that, I would go with a psuedo expert/informed opinion, like redflagdealsguy.

The only VA panels from LG UHD lineup of TVs are their 50” and 60” variant models. For whatever reason LG has both VA and IPS panels for those specific sizes and are only distinguishable based on the text on the box being “real 4k ips” and “real 4k”.

Also this sale is available at Best Buy in store only with the 43” being $400 and the 50 and 55” at $500.

I appreciate the shout out. I'm simply reporting my observatjons, ES_Revenge is a friendly character, but there are some overtly hostile to my opinions.

Anyways, if you have questions feel free to ask, I try to keep up with callouts and communications but sometimes fall behind.

Cheers.

I used to believe that, but I believe I've found VA panels across the LG low end TV line in a less clean cut predictable manner.

I hope I'm wrong in 2022, on this question.

I know there were always rumours and talk about some of their up7000 and up8000 models having VA panels but not their up75. I can confirm 50 and 60” up8000 are 100% Va panels, not sure about other sizes. Have never encountered a up7560 with a VA panel before.

Costco reviews and elsewhere seem to imply these TV's are no good. Proceed with caution
