Are Birkenstocks true to size.
Is a 41 closer to a size 8.5 or 8.0 (or smaller?!)

Ron.
Most likely true, some Costco members are complete idiots. A worker once told me she was watching someone take an item from the centre of the pallet. This item had no best before/expiration date and all products the same but the member still had to do it. I have seen items teeter on falling over due to an idiot that must have that bottom one, thinking it has the best expiration date.

It could also be the stocker of the shoes, if they didn't think before setting up the pallet, then it could cause people having to search for sizes.

Did some research on Birkenstocks as I never understood the fascination. Comfort first and foremost from reviewers, which is my #1 criteria for buying shoes.

I think they fit large. I am not a 42 in any other shoe, but these I was.

Closer to 8.5 so I have the straps tight so my feet sit perfectly centered. I have never worn This brand before so was interested to try at this great deal. It takes a while to get use to the raise border under the toes but so far the foot bed is quite comfortable

+1, they are closer to the higher North American size on the box, so 41 is like a 8.5

Costco why can't you get some women's size for guys with small feet. I want a pair of the black color so badly.

Agreed. I wear a size 9 shoe but for these, I had to get a size 41, which is a size 8.

I've found breaking them in to be much easier than I thought. I've basically just worn them on weekend errands 3-4 times since buying them and already find them very comfortable to wear.

Maybe the leather upper softens but that's the part I don't find comfortable atm.

Anywhere in particular you've seen them? I'm purposefully looking for the EVA model and I can only find cheap prices for US sites. Can't bring myself to pay $60 retail for plastic slippers/

Sandals+Socks... let's leave them to actual magazine/runway models
I've seen too many wannabees using this combination, with dirty socks, or holes on them... trust me, doesn't look good, nor fashionable at all.
If you're buying these, make sure your feet are in good shape too, and clean.

Just grabbed a pair at Willingdon, Burnaby today. They moved them from the front of the stock to the back of the store.

Tons of sizes left.
