[Costco] Costco Travel: Puerto Vallarta All Inclusive Vacation from Vancouver - Fiesta Americana

I found a pretty good deal for an all inclusive vacation through Costco Travel, leaving from Vancouver on March 26 or 31, 2025 and staying for one week. The resort is called Fiesta Americana in Puerto Vallarta. The total for 2 adults and 1 child is $3,760, and that comes with a $202 Costco Shop card. A similar package through Westjet Vacations is $5,089.

Note that it looks like the Costco package does not include any checked baggage, only carry on. From what I can tell, adding a checked bag will cost $35 each way if purchased online before the trip.

I think this is spring break time for the Mercian’s, so keep that in mind. Was in Cabo with my wife and kids first week of march and it was an absolute sh*t show. There were three deaths at our resort that week. Maui is more my jam.

I think Cabo/Cancun areas are a lot more popular with spring breakers. Granted Vallarta does gets its fair share of Chad's walking around during that time, but I think it's a bit less crazy.

Been there 2 years ago. Okay booze....food not good....sun and sand great. Eat on the way down and on way home....just drink for 7 days and lay on the beach.

I've been to Cancun/Playa before but planning on taking the wife and baby (1 y/o) to PVR for the first time. Do you guys recommend a hotel/Airbnb in the city or an all inclusive - if so which one? Wife likes resorts but never been to Mexico, I like exploring as I get pretty bored in resorts after a few days. Heard Nuevo Vallarta has nicer resorts/beaches but that's further away which means farther transportation which is something else we have to figure out with an infant. What do??

We (wife & I) spent a week at the Riu Vallarta in Nuevo Vallarta last November. It was all inclusive and pretty good. It was $2,800 for the 2 of us from Calgary on a last minute deal. It's actually closer to the airport than PV. Bucerias is only a mile or so away and if you're energetic, you can walk there along the beach. One thing that was totally unexpected was the beach was closed for 5 of our 7 days due to crocodiles in the water. Who knew?

Pretty much any beach close to a river mouth is going to be like that unfortunately.

Nuevo Vallarta: Further from downtown. Less street food or local restaurants. Shallower water at the beaches. Fancier resorts. Less local vibe. Older retired crowd. Nice walking paths.

Puerto Vallarta: Closer to downtown. Bars, restaurants, and clubs within walking distance. Street food and local restaurants everywhere. Water can get deep quickly, and waves can be bigger, depending on surge. More local vibe. More uneven sidewalks.

We were here Nov 2023 and would not go back. They are cheap for a reason.

Food was abysmal (you can cook better), lack of restaurant selection, coupled with manual reservation requiring guests to go down in the morning and book dinner - good dinner time slots quickly ran out.

Alcohol watered down (to be expected?)

Third night between 11-11.45PM they invited heavy rock band to play down at the lounge. I have high tolerance for bands prior nights, but we're talking heavy metal kind of loud, called receptionist, mentioned she had been getting lots of complaints as a result.

Beach was good but not great. Breakfast was ok.

If you upgrade (pay extra), you can access their adults only pool/bar area, which seems way better than public ones

Youve been warned

The Westjet ticket is Economy, so the rates for baggage are a bit better.

I've never been to PV before, but recent reviews on Tripadvisor look pretty good!
