White boxes are the original release. Red boxes are for those with updated firmware. Physically the units are identical. Hook the soundbar up to the internet and update the firmware if a white box. The red boxes also have a free trial period for Tidal.

Didn’t see this thread initially but as an existing owner another thing to mention is that the HDMI port on the soundbar only supports HDMI1.3 (maybe 1.4) so 4K/HDR devices can’t be plugged in there for full feature support.

Since I don’t have a receiver and my TV doesn’t have enough of these ports either, I ended up connecting my TV to this system via optical audio...

Should I get this or the Yamaha YAS209 for $399?

Assuming that I buy this Vizio Unit for the full price ($249)?

I like having rear speakers, but the Yamaha is newer and still seems to produce a pretty good surround sound effect

To those who are using it with optical, is there a delay (a minute or so) for the audio to come back whenever you change TV channel? Does it remain in optical mode or do you have to reset it each time you turn it on or change TV inputs?

Mine keeps reverting back to HDMI-ARC and whener I switch TV input or channel, the soundbar becomes unresponsive for a bit of time
