How's the rice cookers compared to the Japanese ones (ie. Tiger)?

Anyone seen this in the GTA?

I recently returned my Tiger and got one of these, both cookers are Made in China, Tiger is a Japanese brand and Cuckoo is a Korean brand. I like it better because it has multi functions, and with the Turbo function, it cooks the rice faster. We are enjoying ours so far.

I'm pretty sure you're wrong.

The Cuckoo is Made in Korea, that Costco sells.

Ye it's a Korean brand but not a pressure one.
Koreans don't buy non-pressure one and never heard of non-pressure rice cookers.
Just 2 cent as a Korean here.

I've owned Tiger and Zojirushi, both made in Japan. For both, the non-stick coating would always start peeling away after awhile. I've had the Cuckoo since last fall and it's still looking good, although time will tell if it starts to peel. The coating in the pot looks to be better than that that light grey coating the other brands use. A replacement pot for my Zojirushi would have cost me $70+, so I just bought a new one.

My then girlfriend, now wife, used to own electric non pressure one like this one a long time ago (we're both koreans) so it is known, just not as popular as the pressure cooker.

Aside from this, I'd recommend spending a bit more to get a pressure cooker, as it'll be able to do more than just cook rice.

I know I've been to a bunch of kimbap cheonguk restaurants that had big standard on/keep rice cookers. Not sure if these were mentioned, or if it is the more modern designs.

For those who have never had a fancy high tech rice cooker, just be aware that cleaning them is more of a hassle than standard on/keep versions.

Which one would u suggest best for cooking Sushi rice? Zojirushi or Tiger or this one?

Pressure or non-pressure?

Lastly, is it possible to easily make only 2 to 3 cups of rice with this 6 cup model?

Pressure would produce rice more suitable for sushi. And yes, you don't need to make full 6 cups every time. Mine is a 10 cup but I always cook 5 cups.

Non pressure one is just fine. It's well known brand in Korea. Probably the most popular one for its durability.

Cuckoo sells both pressure and non-pressure ... many people who use these types of products tend to swear by the former (the rice tastes better etc.)
