Thanks for the update! The website's going a little haywire at the moment but the order finally went through after 3 tries.
For anyone asking, it's the LG LP1419IVSM 14,000 BTU (10,000 DOE) 115V Dual Inverter Smart Wi-Fi Portable Air Conditioner with Remote at Home Depot: https://www.homedepot.ca/product/lg-electronics-14-000-btu-10-000-doe-115v-dual-inverter-smart-wi-fi-portable-air-conditioner-with-remote/1001221502
Single hose, very good reviews all over.

This is what the page looked like for me when I was able to add it to the cart:
I got to checkout a few times and it errored out. Had to try a few times and eventually it went through. Also had to refresh the page a few times for it to actually show up in stock.

if you want a long explanation of it there's this videomicrox2343 wrote: ↑ Question for the AC guru,
Won’t a dual hose be less effective at removing heat from the condenser than a single hose?
Dual hose would be using air from the outside, which theoretically would be warmer than the air inside, whereas single hose uses the inside cooler air.
This is strictly just about the condenser.

pretty much. its kinda random luck.BrandonC75662 wrote: ↑ Did you just keep refreshing the page until the "Add to Cart" button was no longer greyed out?
first time hesitated because i wasnt sure if family wanted it. when i went to enter payment information it removed it from my cart.
second time worked.
until u finish check out and you get email confirmation, its not done yet.
and even now i am skeptical if it will actually ship that fast.

With just the inside foam against the screen I tested it to read the different temperatures I would get.
Outside 28°C in the sun. my intake is in the shade
I started the AC and it began with a reading of 26°C inside and 26°C outside (in the shade).
After 10 minutes it was reading 27.5°C outside and 21.5°C inside
installed the new plastic separator (made from a cutout from a 4L bottle of water at WM)
temperature went to 26.5°C outside ans 20°C inside after 15 minutes
I had a 1°C gain in the intake air by adding this separator against my outside screen.
If I made the separator longer maybe it could perform better?
edit: I tested this by doubling the length of the separator and air was still at 26.6°C as before. The short separator was just as efficient as the long one.
Total cost of almost $0, consider the tape and no consignment on the empty bottle.

Just spoke to someone at HomeDepot, Cambie Location in Vancouver appliance dept
He say they are getting a special shipment of 10000,LG12000 and maybe some LG14000 btu arriving tomorrow afternoon (Tuesday)
He say to call 1st.
Also asked if it'll be available online, say he doesn't know.
If this helps anyone with a car, ready to go pick up on a whim.
I'll keep checking online, but hopefully be able to get the Costco Danby Model again.
