Got this on the last sale and it's a pretty good vacuum but I couldn't find a cheap filter replacements. I did see a washable (reusable) one but it was the same price as the entire vacuum. Might be a consideration for some but hoping that someone can direct us to cheaper consumables.

i second this comment. i got the metal dewalt vacuum at costco, similar to this one. bags are stupid expensive. it's printer cartridge business model; give the printer (vacuum) away and make the profit off of expensive cartridges (bags).

i did manage to find original dewalt bags on amazon for a bit less than ludicrous. i use an Oneida Dust Deputy to collect all the sawdust before it hits the bag. i almost never have to change bags now. this would not be practical for general vacuuming use though.

Why do you need a bag? My 10year old Ridgid shop vac doesn't use a dust bag but I see all these new Ridgid shop vacs that have optional dust bags. From what I gather, having a dust bag is optional and I've never used a dust bag ever in my Ridgid shop vac.

People don't want to breathe in the dust they are sucking up so they want a dust bag for dry mode

For vacuuming fine dust such as drywall dust. It saves your filter from becoming clogged and you having the constantly clean it. It also prolongs the life of your vacuum.

The wheel legs keep falling off of mine while I drag it around. That's my only complaint. I will apply adhesive to fix this.

Also, how do you guys store the accessories? I'm thinking of a better way than keeping in a box

I'm pretty sure I got the same model, don't you have a plastic container that attaches to the back of the vacuum where you can store all of the accessories?

^^^^^ this exactly. i used to spend more time cleaning the filter than doing the vacuuming. and it's not just drywall dust. even fine sawdust clogs it up super quickly.

The wheels need to be screwed in with the provided screws.

Used it for an orbital sander job, I don't want to imagine the chaos I'd have faced without the bag.

Sadly that's one thing that's a negative here, pretty much nothng fits, even with my Dewalt sander. Had to buy some type of Dewalt adapter and even then, had to tape the connection manually. As I recall, this vacuum isn't really even Dewalt, it's another company using the Dewalt label.

as they say, the wonderful thing about standards is that there are so many to choose from.

i don't think i have two machines in my workshop that have the same diameter hose. there are loads of adapters on the market. i got mine at kmstools.com

I've updated the picture to reflect the 2.5" opening size of the Dewalt original bags.
The other two have the 2.5" but also have a perforated option to accept ~2.8" opening.

FYI this is the worst shop vac. I've tried Rigid, ShopVac, and this one. This dewault one is the worst by far. I used it for about a month and am going to return it. Rigid was the best in my experience, followed by ShopVac which was also really good.

I've had the Dewalt and the Rigid 6 gallon and had the complete opposite experience.
The Dewalt has more flexible hose and better hose management. Better wheels. Better accessory and cord management with the bag on the side. Taller and slimmer vs the wider and shorter Rigid. and the Dewalt is easier to carry because it's narrower.
I found the suction the same. I found the Dewalt a little quieter.

Been using the Dewalt for a few weeks everyday doing renos and has been great.
