Unrelated to what seems to be a good price, can someone please explain what the appeal of this brand of backpack is? I've casually examined them, and I don't understand the high price premium over other well made brands.

Im curious as well. We bought two for our daughters ages 7 and 12 and returned them. My daughters both found the thin strong straps dig into their shoulders. And the backpacks wouldn’t fit very much.

They're very sturdy and durable I've heard. Great for camping and such. I personally don't like them because they feel too rough but it may suit someone else who needs that durability.

They are for people who have disregarded the fact that technology has advanced since the 50s.

The whole Fjalraven schtick is their take on canvas material. It’s pretty rugged actually but the wax waterproofing adds a step some people aren’t comfortable with but it’s easy to do with a hairdryer.

Looks nice and it has that trendy square shape. But $100 backpack and it doesn't even have mesh pockets for water bottles and coffee thermos? Damn, that's inconvenient. What other features are missing? I'm glad I got the Thule Escort 2 at $20 last year, as it seems a lot more functional. Are people just getting this for the logo?

32% off over priced junk doesn’t change that it’s over priced junk.

I have one of these backpacks. I love it to death. It's ridiculously sturdy and I'd buy another one, if I actually needed to.

If you're still not convinced that it's not worth the price, then it's probably not for you. Just about 1 out 5 kids in Toronto has this bag. It's recognizable from a distance and it comes in a bunch of cool colours.

Remember watching this when I didn't get the Fjallraven hype.

If you see the demographic of YouTubers doing Fjallraven Kanken unboxing and reviews, you'll also understand how the brand has grown beyond its original roots.

This backpack is originally a basic utilitarian backpack with a durable water resistant canvas, and simple functional shape. The design was never changed over the years and they sold a ton of them in Europe

Just like anything that has a classic shape and is considered well made...it has become somewhat iconic. So it has become retro fashionable. Just like Canada Goose jackets were just utility jackets, but now are a status item.

I don't have anything against the company, for the most part, they stuff seems well made (esp their winter jackets), but I think there is definitely a "Fjallraven" nostalgia tax....to have that logo on the backpack.
This is RedFlagDeals, not RedFlagCheapskates. Rich or poor, we all want our deals so we can buy even more stuff we may or may not need.
