[Costco] GAS ONE Portable Butane Gas Stove 10,000 BTU [Model# GS-3700] $15.99

Saw this little butane camp stove in the Costco warehouse in Abbotsford, BC. Not listed online at Costco.ca.

I have no experience with butane camp stoves, but I bought one anyway. Couldn't resist a camp stove for the price of a fancy sandwich. I still need to purchase a butane canister. We'll see how it goes.

Price comparison to other retailers:
Amazon $42.91 CAD
Home Depot $29.69 USD
Gas One $29.99 USD
Walmart $29.99 USD
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Gas-One-Port ... /122498030

Here is the description from Gas One:

Sleek, powerful, and lightweight, our GS-3700 is the way to go for any camping trip. With a smooth metal body and enamel-coated drip pan, our stove ensures an easy and enjoyable cooking experience. This iconic little stove delivers 10,000 BTU, making it a wonderful addition to everything from camping gear to an emergency kit!

High Output of 10,000 BTU
Weighs Only 3.3 lb
Uses 8 oz Butane Canister
Comes with Portable Carrying Case
*Fuel Not Included
*For Outdoor Use Only

What are the butane canisters? Are they standard enough to find at MEC?

You can get butane cheaper at asian grocery stores. Usually $1-2/can.

just a heads up for you guys, there are two types of butane canisters, one for refilling lighters, one for camp fuel. they are not interchangeable. the ones you need for this one are the style that chilli604 posted. they have metal nozzles. the lighter refill ones will have plastic tipped nozzles (usually white or red)

Camping stove... Why go all the way for camping to enjoy your purchase? Stay home and hot pot!

joking aside, I've never thought of these as a camping stove, just as butane stove.

The ones at the Asian grocery stores, even Galleria or H-Mart, have units that max out 8,000 BTUs. This model can do 10,000 BTUs.

Btw, butane canisters at most asian grocery stores are $5 for a pack of 4. Usually made in Korea. CT at $10 for 3 is a rip.

These are excellent to have on hand in case of power outages for those with electric/induction stove.

Also excellent to cook the smelly stuff outside like fish or even deep frying in your Dutch oven or cast iron fry pans.

You can use these inside even as well

Highly recommend ppl have one.

It says for outdoor use only but all of Asia have been using this stove for hot pot at home inside.

I used this for back country camping... works well. Goes through gas fast. I find the throttle for the high/low flame doesn't offer a lot of change though.

Fast depends on what you're cooking.

approximately 2 hours at high heat and 4 hours at simmer

Wife brought one very much like this when she moved from Korea to Canada. She didn't expect to get married and stay here, but I digress. Face With Tears Of Joy This was a LIFE SAVER during that great blackout 20 yr or so ago! We didn't have to throw out any of our refrigerated food. We cooked everything and even cooked some meals for the old Chinese couple when lived in the penthouse above us. Heck! My BBQ is broken now...took this out the other day and did up some delish Korean bbq ribs in the backyard about 1 month ago. Face With Tears Of Joy Ah...fond memories.

Thought I’d switch up my grocery store stove for this one thinking Costco’s versions are always the best, right?

I’m not sure how but this one goes through way more fuel than my older one and doesn’t seem to get as hot. Maybe the element is higher or something and it’s more impacted by wind, but wasn’t super impressed for back country camping.
