I personally would probably wait for a sale, or just get it off GoPro website for around the same price shipped, includes 1 year sub of GoPro which gives you ability to buy accessories and mods for what looks like to be around 30-50% off.

I'm 6 gens out of the loop, but at GoPro3 time the 50% to 75% cheaper unofficial accessories off amazon and ebay worked fine, like floats and mounts... what usable mods do these offer? Costco has a very good return policy + 2% for executive which would sway me to costco over a probable one way online sale - unless there's actual value in proprietary gear with the gopro subscription.

I think the coolest one of them all is the Max Lens Mod, which is on sale for $97.99 (orig.$139.99) if purchased with the GoPro Sub. You pretty much have to see it to know what it does. It basically keeps the horizon levelled even if you flip the Gopro 360 degree.

Otherwise here are other GoPro9 mods that are also available:
Media Mod $76.99 (orig.$109.99) (gp9 specific)
Light Mod $48.99 (orig.$69.99) (non-gp9 specific)
Display Mod $76.99 (orig.$109.99) (non-gp9 specific, and gp9 has a smaller one in front already)

Accessories:
battery $19.99 (orig.$24.99)
Dual battery charge + spare battery $48.99 (orig$69.99)

...and others, all price with Gopro sub only.

But like I said, Costco one is not a bad deal, it's just that I'm pretty sure it'll go on sale for $100+ off eventually like the Gopro 8 bundle last year. I would wait for that sale instead.

I bought mine off the website and got $40 USD back through Rakuten as a first time user. Great little camera !

I knew about the mods but never actually really looked in depth. That lens mod is pretty damn impressive. It looks like the Hero 9 Black on its own does a pretty good job as well. It would definitely satisfy my needs without the lens.

I’m trying so hard to resist buying one as my old trusty Hero 4 Silver satisfies my needs however I do love getting even nicer footage. I definitely will go the GoPro.com route though as I think it’s the better deal even if I don’t love the shipping and carrier charges.

How could you place an order at gopro USA? The shipping country is locked at the States and can't be changed to Canada.

Not sure where you are looking but it wasn't when I ordered and I just checked and still isn't now. I even ordered some accessories in March @50% off (included with Gopro sub) and had no issues.

Looks like they only have about 30% off on accessories that you will want/use. at least that ones that add real value. (Media & lens Mods, Mounts etc.)

NOTE: We cannot get Batteries or Dual battery charger shipped - due to shipping restrictions. anyone planning to subscribe to the Go Pro sub should be made aware of this in advance rather than finding it out after you are a member.

That's weird. I am in Ontario and here is what I get. The United States is grey and unchangeable
I even tried using VPN to change my location in Vancouver and Montreal. Same thing.
End up purchasing from Gopro CA website.

If you want a camera for vlogging or family recording, not anything extreme or anything that is potentially wet, get a DJI Osmo Pocket instead.

must have been a recent change. i bought the hero8 on release maybe 2 years ago from their store. was able to order 2 spare batteries under the subscription plan which i promptly cancelled as it was useless to me. shipped it no problem. i think they got wise and stopped doing it since everyone was buying batteries at half off.
