No idea. I'd tend to stick to the same type with the nut in the back rather than the cotter pin, though I have no idea if that's actually necessary.UnexpectedToken wrote: ↑ i wonder if these work

My concern is there's probably a spec to respect, somewhere below whatever would damage the gearbox but not so low that it'll break for no reason.

The snow wasn't soaking wet or extremely deep. Anyway, yes, the snow thrower whipped through it all quickly. The thrower is rated to shoot snow up to 50 feet, which I doubt it does. I didn't test or measure distance, but I accidentally blew snow onto my neighbours' sidewalk, which wasn't close. So, I cleared it for them.golden wrote: ↑ So any feedback from the snowstorm today in GTA? It should be a good test later today. The snow is kinda wet and I'm concern electric ones cannot deal with it and the snowbank. I tried my dad's single stage Ego and wasn't impressed. I know this should be better but still on the fence about buying it to replace my trusted gas snowblower. I am tired of the annual maintenance like oil change, so wondering if this really works on wet snow and the snowbank.
My biggest complaint is the one I have with all snow throwers, including gas ones I've used: when a truck parks in your driveway (for a delivery, for example) without you getting a chance to clear snow first, the snow thrower's tires go right over the very bottom half inch of the compacted snow, created by the the weight of the truck, that's now stuck to your driveway. Not a big deal

Canadian tire has a bunch of random shear pins and sizes. I found a pin for a 20 year old craftsmandjzapz wrote: ↑ Speaking of shear pins, do any of you know if there are any compatible replacements that can be bought from stores?
I contacted support and they've pointed to Mecanair. They sell those things for $2 each but shipping is $16. I'd like to keep a little stock but the price is a bit steep.

ooooof... man its the same rate to ship to windsor... i would feel cheesed too if i had to pay that shipping rate to ottawa lol..... too bad... :/ i might just give the CT 1/4x1.5 shear pins a try.... shear strength of these pins can't vary that much right? like the exact same screws would have wildly different shear strengths... they can't possibly have that tight of a tolerance on these...

I guess if it fits it's probably good. I certainly wouldn't want the warranty man to know though.UnexpectedToken wrote: ↑ ooooof... man its the same rate to ship to windsor... i would feel cheesed too if i had to pay that shipping rate to ottawa lol..... too bad... :/ i might just give the CT 1/4x1.5 shear pins a try.... shear strength of these pins can't vary that much right? like the exact same screws would have wildly different shear strengths... they can't possibly have that tight of a tolerance on these...

Hello from Ottawa! Just got mine delivered this week, excited to try it today very soon. Probably need to raise the skid shoes as per previous discussion.
Did you or anyone manage to use both the cable clip and the flexible metal cable loop to hold back the cable to the chute? Mine is a tad short and can only use one of the two :/

I did but the bottom cable clip was installed upside down on mine and I had to flip it around. It's very tight however and I wouldn't be surprised if it popped out at some point.alext4 wrote: ↑ Hello from Ottawa! Just got mine delivered this week, excited to try it today very soon. I'm hyped to give it a shot after work myself. It's sticky snow so it may stick in the chute. I've already sprayed mine down with some silicone which will hopefully help.

I know this thing is pretty powerful but I'm running a 22" 80V Kobalt which could be found for $350 on clearance and it's perfectly suited for a single driveway. Just cleaned the last night's snowfall in about 10 minutes(located in Orleans). No need to overspend if you don't have to.

Anyone have any feedback on this unit after our recent snow fall? On the fence, I have $250 in gift cards too from the Fido upgrade deal from BF burning a hole in my pocket.
I'm debating on replacing a 11HP 2 stage 30" Craftsman that is nearing 20 years old.

I'm curious as well. It's great that it comes with 2 spares but I wish they were a standard size. I still have a handful from my gas snowblower but they're too large. If anyone finds, please share the link.
Tempting to drill the sheer pin holes larger but it must be that size to allow the pin the break off given a specific amount of torque and using a larger size could prevent that.

I cleared the driveway again this morning because the city plow left a mess at the end of it, and I went through areas that were at least 8 inches high just to test for a few minutes. I decided to only use two batteries this time because I didn't want to have to bother charging the third. I didn't have to reduce drive speed, and I left the auger one click above eco. I ran the blower for 23 minutes total and still had 2 bars left on both batteries.
However, I don't feel the amount of snow I went through was much of a test, given that it wasn't very deep or extremely wet.

They are standard 6mm (M6) shear pins available from most hardware stores that sell snow throwers (Home Depot sell them under the PowerSmart brand for around $10 for a 4 pack if I remember correctly)

Trying to order but getting the following error "Promo code conditions have not been met. See promo code details or remove code to continue checking out. " Anyone else?
Edit: If anyone has the issue, I removed the item from cart, tried again and it worked. Weird bug.
