[Costco] Hisense 50" 50R61G 357$ + tx

An old favorite is on sale again, a bit more expensive then other sales but it has been regular price for half the year.
With eco fees (QC) 371$ in store or 381$ online.

Probably lowest price respectable 50" around .

Yup that was then, this is now. There's a shortage of LCD panels. Get the time machine ready and please also save us from this virus.

Anyone know the box size to the 55inch? Want to see if it'll fit in my car.

Always the one from Costco since for 30$ you basically get 5 years of warranty coverage. No brainer.

I don't have the exact dimensions, but the 55R6109 just barely fit in the rear of my Acura ILX ( had to do a lot of fighting and squishing & I measured before I went). If you have a compact or smaller it will be very tight in the box.

That being said - As others have pointed out, the 55 was on clearance last year for $299. Not saying it will be that low, but Costco usually blows out their old models in the new year.

Thanks! I'll wait until it hit a similar price point! I drive an Audi A5 Sportback. Might just be wide enough for it with the seats down.

How is the viewing angle?

Pretty sure it was in Nov. last year. Either way I guess I am trying to say these TV's are low price but the quality is pretty good. Just ordered the 70" Hisense this morning.

LOL guys...this is a low-end TV. It's not going to get very bright at all--that's normal for any TV this low-end. It's also a VA panel so the contrast is great (even cheap VA panels have great contrast these days) but it's gonna suck at an angle. But that's normal for VA panels.

It's a cheap TV, you're not going to get anything amazing. Spend $80 more and get something much better, $130 more and get something much better and significantly larger. It still doesn't get hugely bright but it's brighter along with better in every other dimension than this. Angles don't get any better though--you only have three choices if you want wide-angle viewing:
-Buy IPS and give up any sense of good contrast performance (not a good idea for darkened room movie watching)
-Buy a Samsung Q80T or better with the "ultra wide" layer (not cheap)
-Buy OLED (really not cheap)

Does anyone have any hints on how to get my Shaw bluesky (XR-11) remote to control this TV?
I've tried pairing it as a Hisense brand and Roku brand but volume/on/off don't work

I replaced an old Samsung A550 40” LCD with the HiSense 50”. I paid $20 less picked it up in-store months ago.

The dimensions are almost the same, perfect for the bedroom TV stand with mount. Much less bezel and 10” more screen real estate.
I do not have much 4K stuff so getting YouTube on the built-in Roku is good in that regard...using it everyday. I have OTA and able to get the channels like my other TVs. Yes, it’s Roku system just with that dinky remote but still works.

For my use, I couldn’t care less if the 55” were to be $50 cheaper because it wouldn’t work for me.

Does anyone know if this model supports Google Assistant?

According to the French Manual online, it says the support was added with Roku OS 9.3 and above (Source: https://assets.hisense-canada.com/asset ... eet_Fr.pdf), but I can't find any other sources confirming this.
