[Costco] LG 32" QHD Monitor - $289.99

I just picked up this monitor @ Abbotsford Costco (I am assuming it would or will be in stock at other Costco stores).

This monitor comes in and out of stock online @ costco.ca for $300 and sells out fast. For $289 in store it seemed like a good price for a 75hz QHD monitor. I know that this is not on sale but as with lots of good deals at costco they can dissappear fast and never return or possibly become a constant iteam there. This one has a white bezel (and back) with a silver stand (i like the look of it).

The stand unfortunately only provides tilt and no option to raise or lower (but it seems to be at a nice hight for its size). Overall my family is really happy with our purchase.

You can see the specifications here from LG Link

Looks like walmart sells it online for $380(sold out).

It's QHD resolution (2560x1440), not a QLED. Looks to be an IPS display instead.

It's QHD not QLED. Those are two completely different things. QHD refers to resolution (2560x1440) whereas QLED is about backlight technology (quantum dot LED). Anyway, I got this monitor online a couple weeks ago for 300. Pretty decent and tons of screen real estate as expected. Colours are good, brightness is good.

Lg only has a 1yr warranty on their monitors whereas asus benq acer have standard 3yr and philips, I believe, does 4yrs.
Samsung generally only has 1yr on their monitors as well.
When monitor shopping, I don't even consider samsung and lg because of this.

Purchasing at Costco automatically doubles the manu warranty, and an extended warranty beyond that is relatively inexpensive as well.

How many monitors have you had fail within 3 years?

I'm actually wondering the same thing. I've actually never had a single monitor fail on me although I really haven't had that many over the years. Maybe 5? Each was at least 4 years before I sold it or gave it away in order to upgrade.

I think that if you can get out of the first year without problems you are most likely good but it doesnt hurt to have a bit of extra warranty. One other thing to think about is costco gives a 90 day no hassle return on all electronics so this will cover black Friday and boxing day sales if a better deal shows up or if you are not happy with the monitor for any reason.

I was thinking the same thing..I've owned about 7 or 8 LCD monitors over the years and I just had 1 fail this week. It is an Asus VA32AQ IPS panel and it looks like the backlight has failed. It powers on but just remains black regardless of input. While using it, screen just turned black. I bought it used and didn't realize it has a 3rd yr warranty until I started to check on the specs when looking for a replacement. I checked and sure enough the warranty expires next month! So I'm going to RMA it and see if Asus can repair it or just send a refurb replacement.

Before realizing it was still under warranty I ordered this LG from costco.ca so I'll see how it compares. It looks like it's a bit brighter than the Asus. I'm just hoping for nice crisp text.

If there are any issues with the monitor over the 2yrs, is it a matter of contacting Costco for warranty repair or just return it to the warehouse for refund?

BTW, prior to this first failure, I've got an older Dell Ultrasharp U2713m which is still going strong so I didn't think these failed! :)

I too have gone through many monitors in my time and none of them have failed on me, new or refurbished. The only one that had problems was one with the power button jamming, a Dell Ultrasharp.

Thanks OP. Will probably pick this up. Was considering a 43" TV, but may be overkill. Can't go wrong with Costco's return policy.

Was thinking of using a 43 inch tv too lol. Might grab this if the return is simple at Costco

I've been using one as a vertical pinball field (and now vertical MAME screen) without any complaints.

Are you sure Costco will extend the warranty of Monitors to 2 yrs as Computers? In the product description of laptops or desktops, there are something like:
Warranty and Returns:
For Costco members only, Costco extends manufacturer warranty to 2 years from the date of purchase if the manufacturer's warranty is less than 2 years. Click on the Concierge Services icon for details. Concierge Service is offered exclusively to Costco members.
Returns accepted within 90 days from date of purchase

But can't be found under that of Monitors.

Samsung and LG actually make/supply their own panels for their monitors and don't have to source it from a third party. I'd expect they keep the best for their own products and that's why I usually consider them first over other brands if everything else is equal.

One year warranty isn't great, but honestly if you have to pay to ship a monitor for warranty (paying at least one way usually) you are already looking at a losing proposition anyways.

Monitors are not subject to the reduced 90-day return period. They have the same policy as regular Costco products.

Electronics: Costco will accept returns within 90 days from the date of purchase for televisions, major appliances*, projectors, computers, cameras, Aerial Cameras (drones), camcorders, digital music players, tablets, smart watches, Cellular Phones (return details will vary by carrier service contract) and other electronic products identified by Costco from time to time.

So they will accept returns past the 90 days then but only a 1 year warranty i guess.
