[Costco] LG G4 $155 after gc

I'm not sure if its Ontario only

Virgin or Fido only

You pay 24 months x $15 = $360 by the end of 2 years because you take a plus15 fido plan or a virgin gold plan (+$15) for the LG G4 (its a promo)
Costco gives you basically $205 in GC ($225 GC - $20 for the phone)
360-205=$155, this is only if you stick with your phone and shop at Costco i guess, because you have $700 on your tab and get a little less than $30 off every month, and you're stuck with 205$ in GC for costco

I didn't factor in taxes btw

Sorry if i screwed anything up, this is my first ever post :P

EDITS: Spelling and clarification

UPDATE: If you go with Fido its now only a 175$ Gift card
UPDATE 2: If you go with Fido they changed it back to $225

what is the cost of the plan, and cancelling the line afterward? (if people plan to switch couriers)

I think October 2013 they stopped cancellation costs changed it to only paying off your tab. Also the plus15 thing is a promotion so I guess it's going to be 700$ plus tax to cancel, I don't know for 100% though.

Yes, Fido will charge the remaining balance on the device ($700 pro rated). Not the balance based on the 360 (24x15) because it's not technically a tab.

Koodo would charge the balance off the 360. Not sure about Virgin

Not sure why LG isn't getting much backlash for a serious problem like this...
I have not had the 'boot loop' problem since i got mine in June, maybe it has been fixed on recent hardware. The Fido version with the latest firmware supports you get Wifi calling and Volte unlike the Virgin mobile version.
Alternately, the BestBuy VIP sale on thursday has a $200 gift card. Instead of buying there, price match at any Mobile Shop location (In superstores) . You will get 200,000 PC plus points ( $200) which is more useful, since you can use it to buy anything in the store including gift cards or prepaid credit cards.

Sorry dude, but you're completely off on this. Checking the plans on the Costco website, the fido plus 15 plan is actually $70 a month not 15, and the virgin activation requires a gold or platinum plan, which costs at least $55.

So the math over the 2 year agreement:
Fido: $70/month*24 months+20 -175 GC = $1525
Virgin: $55/month*24+20 - 225 GC = $1115

Still way better deal than paying for the latest and greatest but it certainly is not 155 after including the GC.

I hope the LG G4 is significantly better than the G3. I got a G3 through Costco for 19.99 on renewal w 275 GC, sold the phone new for 240. About 1 mth ago I got an unlocked AT&T version D850 off eBay for $89 US shipped to my US address, paid no tax at the border due to value. I used it on our 1 mth trip in Europe.

Having used the phone for 1 mth and being able to compare it to my OPO it can't hold a candle except for better camera or should I say a faster camera w less options. Pics are quite good but the phone itself with it's " let's just get hot for no reason" issues and its almost useless screen when outdoors plus weak battery life are enough for me to not touch this series again. Be nice to know how much better the G5 has become. Its plus points are a great shape and size , aside from that I was not impressed at all about G3 and can say in was glad to fire up my OPO once home last week.
How can I be broke when I am saving so much?

You have to take a plan anyways, so i didn't include the plan, i was just looking at how much you have to actually pay BECAUSE you're getting the phone.

A plan is important.... There is a big difference between a $40 plan and a $80 plan....

Your example is like saying you can get a FREE samsung 7 edge.... You just need a $120 plan...

the boot loop happens much later though with a lot of them happening right at the end of warranty or past it. at least, seem to be the case for most. it's a great phone otherwise

Please read through the details before replying, you pick whatever plan you want, you can take the cheapest or the most expensive, you add $15 to that plan because of your tab, not that you have to take a 120$ plan, because you don't. That's why I'm saying the plan doesn't, matter, because you can choose Whatever expensive plan you want.

For your sake i looked into it, the cheapest plan you can get is 40 (their regular $25 plan plus $15), do you understand? is it clear?

I love my LG G4 as it has an amazing camera. My 10 months old G4 also fell victim of the "boot loop" problem. I was told by LG Canada Service and FIDO that this is a very common hardware issue for G4. It is in the shop now and it looks like the whole board needs to be replaced. So buyer beware! So stay away deal with questionable warranty. I was told heat built up inside the phone killed the phone; i think fast charging add to the problem.

If signing a 2 year plan, you can do better than a G4 for $100-200.
It's a dated phone if you are a person who needs the newest phone every year... Lol

If you're going to use your 2-year subsidy on a phone, it should be a relatively current phone. Imagine the G4 in 2 years.

It's not about having an "old" model per se but the convenience of newer features and design (ie. Better battery life, screen, camera, etc).

Check out how badly the G4 does on Anandtech's 2016 battery test:

http://www.anandtech.com/show/10120/the ... 7-review/2

4 hours during relatively heavy use on wifi vs 8 on the galaxy s7 and similar 7-8 hours on more recent phones. That battery life only gets worse with age.

I totally get picking up a used or cheap G4 or other similar phone and then going on a cheap plan like a Virgin Mobile silver plan (a recent promotion was 500mb / 1gb for $40/mo). However if you're going on a 2 year contract you can get a much newer phone for $100-200 than the G4.

Go to Wow Mobile, get the tab small for $10/mth x 24 mths=$240
Pay up front $120, total tab still remains $369
Tradein old phone for $100 credit toward the $120 payment, end up paying $20.
Get $100 GC
Stay with $25 plan for 90 days = $75 and cancel
Total phone will be approx:
360+75 -100-100= $235 before taxes
