[Costco] LG - Over Range - Black Stainless steel microwave - $499.97

For those who might need one.
Might be cheaper in store.

Can't get the link to work.

Use this one :
https://www.costco.ca/LG-2.2-cu.ft-Over ... 23271.html

Features:
  • 2.2 Cu Ft Oven Capacity
  • EasyClean® Interior
  • LG Black Stainless Steel Series

Seem to be $699 everywhere.

Broken link,

Also how do people have space above the range to put a microwave? Which means no range hood? Where does the oil go?

I don’t think they carry over range microwaves in store.

I don't think I've ever used my range hood. I'm not sure about this model but quite a few OTR microwaves have the same function as a range hood built in.

This. Over the range microwaves all have vent functions built in. Many kitchens such as my own are designed for it.

So there's fans, motor, and ductwork as part of the microwave?

Yes. They generally won't move as much air as a range hood but I've always found our OTR microwave to be more than sufficient at venting.

These are attractive in terms of saving counter space, but unless you never actually cook/use your range, I wouldn't advise getting one of these to replace an existing hood fan as in general, they don't vent as well.

If you are willing to make that tradeoff, remember that the other thing you are going to need is an outlet in the cabinet above, which not all kitchens have.

I initially looked into a Whirlpool low profile one that I thought looked pretty nice, but after some research, decided against it.

Awesome thanks, no wonder a $500 microwave is considered a "deal"

Thanks op. I'm gonna take a serious look at this tomorrow. I just ordered an LG 7808 black stainless dishwasher and maybe it's time for a refresh on the microwave too. I have 12+ years on these top end LG appliances that still work great, but the mileage is starting to show...
