rated to 225lbs (the pelican mission 100 is rated 300 lbs).
LOL... i guess kids were on the extreme end of being physically inactive during the pandemic?

I'm pretty sure most adults don't weigh anywhere close to 225 lbs.

"Public Health of Canada has reported that in 2017, 64% of Canadians over the age of 18 are overweight or obese"

Honestly if you're kind of tall you could be 225 without even being in the "obese" category. It's good info to have.

Quick search says average weight of adult male in Canada is 187 lbs. Sure there are going to be people heavier than this, but the way averages work the majority of people are going to be well under the weight limit. Mentioning the weight limit is useful information, but saying that it's just for kids is misleading as it implies there are other reasons they're not suitable for adults.

I got a set of these (purchased about a month ago) and have had them out on the water once so far. I weight about 190lbs, and had no concerns about the weight limitation. Despite what above poster said, these are for adults not kids. I have kids kayaks too, and those kayaks are only around 6 ft.

For the money, these are a great deal for a recreational kayak that includes paddles. Expect to pay around $400-500 elsewhere for the same kayak (just one) without paddles (and good luck finding stock too).

it'll sink, but I suspect these can hold over 225 based on my experience

I own a set of these and the Pelican Mission 100. These are perfectly fine for any adult, so much so that I'm actually planning on returning my pelican Mission 100 and keeping this one instead. The Pelican is larger, but for the costs the Volts are a MUCH better deal.

You have to remember that you might be carrying additional weight . Often when I go , I have a backpack with stuff such as food or snacks , water , some change of clothes etc …
For this model I guess to paddle on a lake at the beach it’s fine

Lot of small guys here I guess, 225 was my “healthy weight”.
We have the Costco pelican good for 275. I’m over that but it still floats fwiw.

I just got these, took about 1 month to be delivered. I am very pleased with them. I weigh about 200 lbs and they work fine. My kids are 13 and 11, and they also like them. Seat is comfortable. Kids can use them as standup boards also. Nice paddles. Great for leisurely exploring the lake at the cottage.
