A little notification brought me here :prenoldman wrote: ↑ From 2017 thread:

That was 90 servings compared to this 14 servings.
To get to 90 servings with today's package would cost $1,157 compared to the $369.99 in 2017.
Talk about inflation.
If you focus on the calories instead (whole point of survival) you'll see that it went from $11.33 to $25.74 per 1kcal, that's a 127% increase.
That's 14.64% annual increase over 6 years.

I think the deal is dead as the page comes up for a second and then disappears

Deal is dead.
Got my bucket today and tried to go to webpage to confirm if this was a “sample” pack or not. These packages are tiny!
Shrinkflation sucks

I think they were considered sample size when they were made. Now they are standard size.vtec_chump wrote: ↑ Deal is dead.

Yeah, these are the same size as the standard retail bags: https://www.mec.ca/en/product/6018-343/ ... =NO_COLOURSizzleChest wrote: ↑ I think they were considered sample size when they were made. Now they are standard size.
It's not really helpful comparing it to packaging sizes from 8 years ago. The bucket is still an alright deal because you're saving $1.50-$3.50 (~10-20%) per package compared to buying them individually.

The OP deal is dead, but I just noticed today that Latulippe has 20% off their Happy Yak and Alpine Aire food with taxes included in the posted price. If you are outside of Quebec, the final price should be about 10% cheaper than the posted price. I can't comment on the nutrition or flavour factor between brands, but being able to pick and choose what you are getting is a big plus.
If someone feels that this is worthy of it's own thread, by all means fly at it...

It’s the 30 year shelf life that makes this useful and expensive for emergencies. It likely it won’t go bad after that. Just see Steve1989MREInfo willingness to eat any MRE. I ordered the #10 can sampler kit for $155 but a long while ago from Costco that wasn’t cheap either. Maybe similar servings to this.
For camping, you can do better and cheaper. Altitude and Sportchek have sales often.
