my personal experience:

dryer balls shed, leaving little white hair on dark clothes
laundry powder does a poor job removing food stains (1 year old)

would not recommend, but I know other people really like this stuff

Never had the problem (or noticed, maybe?) the dryer balls shedding. As for kids clothing and food stains, the oxygen brightener does a really good job with that - we put it in every load with the kids stuff. But, I guess that's just one other thing to buy so I see your point. I'm not sure how other detergents fair (without an oxygen brightener) against food stains.

Also, OP, your pricing/math is whack in your post..almost every item is wrong. edit: most are fixed, except the dryer balls - they're $19.99 after the $5 off.

I'm still another year away from needing the big tub of detergent.
As far as woolen balls go, we got the darker grey ones so any shedding isn't noticable on darker clothes.

I’m several years in and still not even halfway through a tub. Love it still.

I was in South Korea and noticed nellies laundry products being sold in several different fancy home goods stores.

The big tub goes on sale every year around this time. It's 10$ more expensive than it was last year and the 2 previous years, when they sold it for 79.99$. Still a decent price, though, given how long it lasts.

I've gone through 2 sets (8 dryer balls) in total and can't say I've ever had shedding problems with them.

Jeez, how? I also ordered the same pail in October 2016 right before my first kid was born and it only lasted for about 2 years. Ordered a second pail last fall.

Can you kindly share how many scoops of each you use in the wash? E.g., one scoop laundry soda and one scoop brightener pet load?

Do you use the oxygen brightener by itself or with the laundry soda?

I use the laundry powder, and occasionally supplement with oxy clean (which works like the brightener I guess, and is cheaper) for normal day to day cleaning, 1-2 scopes depending on load is clean enough.

Depends how big of a load your washing, usually 1 of each, but maybe 1.5 brightener. Depends how I'm feeling.

With detergent.

Where do you get oxyclean for less than 8 cents per load? I think the Nellie's is ~7.5c per when on sale.
