[Costco] New iPhone8 - Approx $260 net at Costco and WOW Mobile

Both WOW Mobile and Costco (maybe others) have decent deals on the iPhone8 64GB model.

Costco Link
WOW Mobile Link

The phone has a retail buyout price of about $610.
WOW is currently offering $400 prepaid VISA on a Telus plan. You pay zero up front and will get charged $35 activation fee later. WOW also has $50 old phone trade in for accessories.
Costco is offering $425 in Costco GC on a Rogers Plan. You pay $20 up front, and will get charged $35 activation fee later. Costco is also offering free wireless earbuds and a free lightning charger.

If you get this deal you can cancel same/next day, keep the cards and pay the $610 + $35 + taxes. The Costco buyout may be $20 less since that is what you have already put up.

This is actually cheaper than the current offerings for iPhone7/6s.

Yes, how come this is being downvoted? $260 for a two year old top of the line phone is a hot deal, no?

I"m not the OP, but i'm genuinely interested in hearing the reason why people are downvoting.
I hope its not all the koodo butt hurt people. it feels like you can even post a decent deal on RFD nowadays without it getting shat on from people.

What's worse is scrolling through a thread and seeing everyones commentary on how it's being downvoted.

Thanks for posting OP.
I am going to check out Costco after work today.
I am thinking of getting iphone 8 for my teenager son first phone on his birthday. This might be the best deal for my search as I certainly use Costco GC for gas/shopping.
Just hoping that there's no contract to sign, next-day cancellation is not a pain, and no other hidden cost.
Thanks again OP.

Please correct me if I'm wrong but shouldn't it be...

$610 +$35×1.13= $728.85-$400= $328.85 total
Plus 1-2 day of service with rogers

I think the Costco deal is better because of the free earbuds and charger - I did not figure this into the net cost and that alone would cover the $35 activation.

I would think Costco GC or prepaid VISA would have better flexibility than a BestBuy GiftCard.

To be honest, I have an iPhone 8 at work, and I don't like it at all. It is dated, small screen, quirky, etc. I would much prefer an Android phone over the 8. Now with the iPhone X, different story.

Honest question:

How is spending $260 on this and saw techsource selling iph6 for $160 a good buy? Must have Iphone only and nothing else will do?

I assume you call in to cancel and then keep the gift card and hope they don't charge the value of the gift card to your bill?

Great deal. They will probably blow through their inventory soon.

Since tax is different depending on province and 95% of the threads here do not include tax .....

I was calculating more on Costco deal
610 + 35 + tax = 728 (Ont) less 425 = $303 / tax = $265 pretax + free earbuds and charger.

Even in your thread here you don't include tax for the $75 cost.

No Bum Deals
New iPhone SE coming next year that will supersede this model. Have to get rid of stock.
