Why do they sell these, if they are not street legal in many parts? If they were, I would jump on this, as they are so much fun.

I was at Distillery District this weekend, and the Segway Ontario store was renting out scooters without restrictions.

I also rode on the Lakeshore West closure without issue, as did many other riders.

One of those de jure vs de facto situations.

these things are zipping around everywhere. kind of scary to see them on the road with cars cause they're pretty fast and can creep up on blind spots. having them in a dedicated bike makes the most sense for me right now.
there's an official provincial pilot program for vancouver and 5 other cities in bc but none of the cities have officially written any by-laws yet.

This is incorrect for both Vancouver and Kelowna.

Why is for the uninformed? My mom has been using my older version ninebot for many years in a city in Southern Ontario. The only thing is it doesn't have suspension so it is not great on all the imperfections of the local public roads. But the scooters with suspension that I have seen cost 2 to 4 times more. So I would say this is a very good scooter for the informed also.

Not more scary than bicycles. There is absolutely zero difference in terms of road safety.

The subject of the post doesn't say Electric Scooter, nor does the post itself. Many folks may not know what the heck a Ninebot is or does.

That was my take on Duuuude's post.

my gotrax gxl v2 arrives on friday from amazon. scooting around the neighbourhood would be overkill for the ninebot right?

and not planning to go on any major roads but does anyone know how much the ticket is if you get pinched riding one of these anywhere other than vancouver?

The title of this thread doesn't have the word "scooter" in it so I was telling uninformed people like me that it was a scooter. I had no idea what this was until I clicked the link. Slightly Smiling Face
