Road bike isn't bad but only a fairly small frame size available.

The road bikes look identical to the ones from last year, which is different from website info.

The road bike should probably fit people around 5'10-6'? Check the thread last year for fit comments.

I picked one up for 399.97 last year.

It's interesting that they're advertising that it's made by giant this year.

It's an excellent bike for the price.

Bought it to do some winter commuting and it's been great. It's way overgeared but for 400$ the spec is amazing.

I'm a 5'8 male weighing 145lbs.

What size should I be looking to get? Do the Costco employees know how to fit a bike?

There's only one frame size for each, I believe, but at 5'8" it should fit you quite well?

The employees might help you get it off the rack, I doubt any will know how to fit a bike so might want to research that yourself first.

I quite like these bikes, unfortunately I'm too tall for them! Picked up the XCW for my fiancee last year and it's worked great.

Reading that thread it seems to be the consensus that anyone taller than 6'0 will be uncomfortable on the road bike. It's too bad they only make the bike in one size -- proper sizing is extremely important

The Northrock XC00 with a ebike kit looks like it might be fun (https://lunacycle.com/bafang-bbshd-1000w-middrive-kit/) for bashing around in the winter.
I was looking at a Surface 604 Boar but now leaning to a DIY Northrock XC00 and Bafang BBSHD kit from Lunacycle. Anyone here do something like this?
Good post OP. Will probably order to XC00.

The general consensus is they are in fact made by GIANT: http://forums.mtbr.com/general-discussi ... 11851.html

That said, I haven't seen Linear brakes in years...not sure I could go back to them coming from Hydraulics on my MEC bike.

brought the scr 1 last year, it was an amazing bike. I think it fits anyone between 5'8 - 6'0, depending on the torso and leg length. I m so addicted to cycling because of this bike.

Saw the bikes at Winnipeg south last Monday but did not seem like a lot of stock out.

Does Costco do a reasonable job assembling the bikes or are they Crappy tire/Walmart level?

i commuted to work 3 days a week on average for 4 months, from Scarborough to Yonge/Bloor, had 2 flats so far. I am not sure what ya mean by not designed to be used inside the city.

it's pretty much down there with wally and cantire. I had to readjust the brake, as there was too much slack. the gears wasn't adjusted properly. I did it myself by watching youtube, it was fun. I didn't use it for my long commute until after 2 - 3 weeks after I fixed it up.

I highly recommend you to bring the bike to a local bike shop for tune up if you dont want to do it yourself.

Awesome thanks OP! I bought one of the hybrid ones last year but then the chain broke a couple months later so I returned it to get another one but they didn't have any. Definitely going to check in at my local Costco when I get back to Edmonton.

Is the road bike comfortable to just roll calmly with the family?
