[Costco] One Protein Bars - 14 Pack - $9.97 @ Dixie/Dundas Costco

Not sure if its the same price at all Costcos, but the Dixie / Dundas Costco has the 14 pack of One Protein Bars (Birthday Cake and Maple Glazed Donut flavours), for only $9.97. Its usually double the price.

20 g of whey protein per serving. Expiry is November 2020.

Did Costco ever fix their ingredients for their Canadian Kirkland protein bars?

My Costco doesn't even carry these. I'd love to try them for that price. I've wanted to try them but they are so expensive

Literally my favourite protein bars (yes expensive) since I have a nut allergy.

Most nut-free protein bars taste like sawdust. Not these. Most flavours I've tried are good.

I think they might've given up on that. Last time I was there they were selling real quest bars.

I've tried well over a dozen different protein bars, and if you want to eat clean, these are the BEST tasting ones. I think I tried a couple flavours and liked the peanut butter ones.

This is a steal at 10 bucks for 14.

They were $19.97 per box at Heartland yesterday so I grabbed 5 boxes as I though they were a great deal - $26.99 regular price.

I wonder if Costco will stop carrying them so they are clearing stock - isn't *.97 clearance?

Will Heartland match the price or is the low price location specific?

These are definitely one of the better nutritional protein bars (better than your typical fat/sugar bar). BUT the 1g sugar is really misleading, since they leave out fiber and a lot of sugar alcohol (including maltitol which is the worst sugar alcohol [1]).

Image
* a more accurate calorie breakdown would probably put them at about 33% for each macro (since fiber/sugar alcohols provide slightly fewer calories than assumed in the naive calculation used in the table above)

EDIT: added a fun video reference comparing maltitol to other sweeteners, and showing that it is basically sugar in terms of effect on insulin/blood sugar levels (52 glycemic index vs. 60 for sugar; 2-3 cal vs. 4 cal per gram for sugar).
