[Costco] ProForm Crosswalk LT Folding Treadmill (2.6HP) - $589.99

Image
Costco just put up for sale the ProForm Crosswalk LT Folding Treadmill for $589.99 (Model: PFTL29820, Item: 1495921). This sell for $699.99 US at Walmart in the US so seems a pretty good deal. This light duty treadmill with crosswalk handles with tension adjustment allows one to walk or lightly jog while simultaneously building upper body strength. This would be a good purchase for these dog days of winter during this strange Covid world. Head's up: the warranty on this thing isn't the greatest with 1 year on the motor and 90 days on parts and labour. It is from Costco, however, so returns should be zero issue.

As of this posting there are 834 in stock... these won't last long, I have no doubt.

Walking treadmill from very budget brand. Those pull bars are gimmick just to stand out from the line of similar inexpensive treadmills. They are ok on elliptical where you are more or less static but on treadmill you are shifting in your range of walking motion so, you will have to either try to walk on around the same spot and try to reach with each stride or, not to use them at all.
Treadmills are high impact devices, in order to sustain constant pounding either from running or walking they must have heavy duty frames, belts, motors. This one doesn’t look heavy duty.
Another point, I noticed it has a built it tablet. Remember, those android tablets do not stay current for more than 2 or most 3 years. So, you will loose most of support, security updates etc. This device it connected to your local network. Think security. I own Nordictrack 2150 with built in android tablet. The tablet is laggy and hardly supported now.

Just my opinion, not downvoting the post as any in stock treadmill now days is a bonus.

UPDATE: thanks to OP for correction below concerning a tablet. I suppose not having a tablet in this case or, any case when it comes to treadmills with android tablets, is a bonus.
Bars, well thats from my personal experience using ellipticals in various gyms, they are not easy to use after 20 min of brisk walk even if you are "walking" on the same spot and not shifting anywhere. Again IMHO.
I can see the point the treadmill is for occasional use but, IMHO if you spend any money > 500 you want to spend it on something that lasts. If I buy a $20 item and it fails within a year, I wouldnt sweat much about it.

I've been using it for 6months now I think, mostly going 6kph for 20min.
It does the job.
It's a bit loud.
I wouldn't recommend it for heavy duty use, it doesn't feel/look as sturdy as the ones in the gyms.
I never use the crosswalk handle nor the folding feature.

I'm not sure I completely agree with the bars being a gimmick as I've used this treadmill before at a friends. The arm swing motions really aren't difficult to sync with your walking, but I certainly wouldn't run and use them at the same time. I found they made the treadmill experience somewhat less boring and would at least do some good for one's upper body (the tension knobs work relatively well).

This design is definitely light duty, not heavy duty. I wouldn't run on this thing very much, it'd more fit daily walking or light jogging exercise during the winter or what have you. The deck design is surprisingly springy and giving and feels pretty comfortable to walk on. Having said that: I doubt this thing would last 10 or 15 years.

As for the tablet: that's not included with the treadmill (its just there for marketing purposes in the picture). This treadmill has a standard LCD display but does hook up to your phone or tablet via bluetooth when using the iFit app (with subscription after 30 days). IFit will control the speed of the treadmill based on the exercise program (or Google Street View when choosing a custom route anywhere in the world). That's what a user supplied tablet or phone would be used for.

Overall I think this treadmill could be a good buy for someone looking to walk or lightly jog only, with maybe an occasional run thrown in. If someone is looking for a very compact and foldable treadmill, this would also fit that bill. Anyone on a low budget might find it fits as well. It has more narrow uses than some other treadmills, but can fit specific needs I think. Finding one actually available for sale these days is the real miracle. ;)

I guess this doesn't fall under Costco's 2 year warranty either?

manufacturer says 90 day parts and labor and 1 yr motor, which seems to be kinda low.
But i suspect costco's satisfaction guarantee means you should have no issue returning if this thing breaks down in a year or 2. Or is this considered an electronic?

I just got mine and I really like it for compactness. Good for getting in my daily steps and a light jog. Max speed is 9km/hr.

It's basically the Xiaomi R1 Pro rebranded.

How is 9km max speed? I jog at 10-11km an hour. My speed tempo workouts are 15kms per hour.

I'm a small woman. I use it at 8km/h max...
It's very stable. Not that loud. I've been happy with it so far.

Different. The runningpad folds even smaller as the platform folds in half.

When I was looking, I saw this place has R1 Pro for good price and almost ordered, but saw it back in stock at Costco just when I was about to order:
