Costco Propane - Skip the Line?

Can you skip the line at Costco if you're just going in to pay for propane?

Last time I filled up my tank at Costco they suggested I pay at the tire centre instead of the regular cashiers

I use to pay where you buy cigarettes but my location didnt have the cigarette section anymore.

I'm pretty sure you can goto automotive and pay it there. I also use to be able to do that.

When I was at Costco last week people there for Propane were among the many people who could skip the line.

No line to skip really. You just walk in through the exit and tell the person at the door you're going to the tire centre.

You never had to pay at the regular checkouts for propane refills, you could always pay at the Tire Centre (after they got rid of the cigarette booth). The only thing is now you have to tell them that's where you are going.

Anyone know if you can pay at Customer Service? Have to return a battery core anyways.

Next time just by a few fills and leave the receipt in the car. That's usually what I do.

The benefit of Costco is you pay by amount you fill though, you don't pay a flat rate. So you are actually just buying the max flat rate then?

Not all Costco locations fill by weight. Brampton, for example, is still a flat rate no matter how much they add to the tank.

Same in kitchener. Flat rate. Got 2 tanks. Pre pay for a few fill ups. Makes it a little easier.

Around here (Calgary) they have you pay at the photo centre if you're only getting propane.

The Costco that I goto, did flat rate, then by weight and then flat rate again.

I almost walked off with my propane tank because I thought they were doing it by weight, so I gave them my tank to fill up and they gave it right back to me. I asked them if i get a receipt so I can go inside to pay and he said I have to pay first. Anyways my tank was empty regardless

This is the correct answer to the question.

I went and got propane yesterday and the process as outlined above was super easy. (This was at the laird/ridgeway costco in mississauga) Drop off tank, wait for it to be filled, take receipt to tire centre, pay, show attendant your receipt, off you go. Rate for propane yesterday was 59 cents a litre. so my empty tank cost me about 8.70.
