I think of it as an $800 gaming system that will last you 7-10 years apposed to a $1000 phone that lasts 2 years

Well you have to look at it the other way around.
If you can't snatch one from the retailers, the only option is the open market where people sale them 200-300$ more... It's really a shame

630 console plus 90$ extra controller + 90$ old ass game.

Costco should sell the console alone.
