FYI I’ve used Instacart and Same Day by Costco (who use Instacart) plenty of times using credits and the prices are actually generally lower directly through the Instacart app rather than using Costco Same Day (Instacart) through the Costco website. It’s very odd.

Interesting...is it even worth it then at 20% off, especially with the higher prices online compared to in-store?

Decent deal for the Google Nest Hub Max, has a $100 off promo which makes it $207+tax. With the $40 voucher, makes it a bit better deal?

the fact that Credit is only redeemable at sameday.costco.ca, is not valid on prior purchases, nor redeemable for cash. Credit expires 08/01/21. makes this kinda hard to use...

you're forced to use the sameday shop which is higher priced than ware house nad expires w/in 1 month

I was a bit curious and had a look. I'm okay with the slightly higher prices but the selection of groceries they have listed is bizarre. They list items I know for a fact Costco doesn't carry like 500g of strawberries.... But don't list 2lb of strawberries which they almost always have.

I gave up after about 5 minutes of browsing.

This was my line of thinking too. Being forced to use the $40 on heavily inflated prices and having to tip (IMO) the delivery driver both times negates any discount. You might even end up paying more, so if you're regularly going to Costco anyway this doesn't pay off. Plus it expires, which makes it even worse!

Tried it. Ordered July 4th afternoon for over $200, delivered next day afternoon. No $40 Credit honoured!

Called customer service. Told it’s not visible on website therefore no coupon or credit.

Went to store in Langford, BC. Manager claimed it is a scam. No recourse with either Costco or Instcart. SOL!

Anybody else get screwed?

Sorry, complete oversight on the notification of your quote. You really have to know your prices to make this worthwhile, that is what it really comes down to. For instance, the Cottage Cheese can be $13.29 one day, and 12.79 another day which is right in line with the in store prices. Or the block of Kirkland Marbled Cheddar can be $14.29 on Instacart same as In store or it can be $15.59 another day. Another example is the 2 pack bagels for $6.99 in store, on the app it is $7.29. Frankly, a lot of stuff is still a good deal (relatively to being a service) and is within a couple percent of the in store prices. In the end, its a premium nice to have service if you are not able to get out to the store. Also, if you were like us and were avoiding Costco for a little while as the place was a shoulder-to-shoulder zoo and there were many outbreaks associated. This was at the height of COVID in my area (GVRD). We likely won't use it moving forward, it was a very beneficial tool for us during COVID as my wife was pregnant and we just simply didn't want to risk it. Now, its easier to get to the store and grab what we need with seemingly less risk now. In the end, you will pay more no matter what on Instacart or Same Day as the fee's and tip add up quickly as well. All-in-all the customer service was good when the shopper made a poor choice of replacement or bought the wrong item, they simply refunded you without any issue.

CANNOT believe the Manager said that. Anyway I didn't get the credit as well, just sent an email to Costco, let's see how it goes.

Is the $40 credit only can be used for same day delivery order as well?

I didn't get mine either.
It came with the valid Costco email; not sure it's a scam.
No response from Costco but they have yet to respond to any inquiry I've made. Poor customer service

I cannot believe the reply that I got from Instacart, this is a serious cheat, should we report Costco/Instacart to BBB, anyone else get any responses? Anyone still has the screenshots? Even Costco cannot be trusted these days ??

You don't seem to understand how it works. It says "The $40 credit will appear in your sameday.costco.ca account by 07/05/21." So, you will see it next time placing a new order. You won't see it anywhere else.

You have to be careful how you compare. The listed prices are lower on instacart.ca (the same as in the app) but instacart adds a delivery fee ($6 at the moment but may vary) and a service fee (7% of the order now, used to be 5%). sameday.costco.ca doesn't add those fees, only the tax on taxable items and the same tip you add on instacart.ca, although listed prices are higher.

I regularly order from sameday.costco.ca. I compare from time to time with instacart.ca by assembling identical orders and sameday.costco.ca has always been cheaper, not by much but cheaper. In order to do a proper comparison you need to start checkout and see the final total.

It only seems that way to you. Don't assume other RFDers are less savvy than you. Did you receive a $40 credit in your account?

I did not. Several phone calls later, Instacart offered a $25 "good will" credit that is visible in my account, NOT the $40 that was promised as part of the promo.

It was not visible anywhere else until I added a bunch of items to the cart and started checkout.

I wouldn't expect anybody at the store to know anything about it.

Apparently it's "normal" for Costco. I regularly use sameday.costco.ca and got used to it. Listings often claim wrong quantities. I always order 12ct eggs but always get 2 pack of 12. I knew Costco never sold 12ct eggs, so I tried and it's just a wrong listing. If you see something that doesn't make sense but you know this is a regular product at Costco, you will get the familiar product even though the listing is wrong.

You said you sent an email to Costco but received response from Instacart? If you have accounts with both of them Instacart might think you are inquiring about your Instacart account and this promo was not applicable to Instacart, only to sameday.costco.ca

Costco asked me to check with Instacart so I did, of course I mentioned it is sameday.costco.ca, anyway in the latest email they apologized for the first reply and now said they will send the $40 credit. What a mess!
