I think it's fair to ask for others' opinions, like if someone else here has this model of TV and can point out what they like and don't like about it.

Anyways, lack of Dolby Vision might be a dealbreaker for some.

It's a pretty good deal but OLED > QLED, but given the price to size it's a good deal. Most will say pay the extra $1000 for OLED but the extra $1000 is steep for most.

No other brands have sizes above 80", so your choices are limited to Samsung, Sony, and LG for now. If you absolutely must have bigger than 80", this is your TV.

I have the RU8000 in 82" and size is awesome. HDR and picture quality is good enough, if your room is dark or able to control by closing window blinds etc. Dolby Vision is not there, just Samsung's HDR10+ which no one uses except Amazon Prime, and consoles (i think?).

TL;DR, if you want bigger than 80 for good price, get this.

For me, most RFD members are quite knowledgeable about techs. I've made lots of good purchases based on RFD members' opinions.

Ignore him, he's been very toxic in a lot of his posts especially around the people that wants to get opinion from others - search.php?author_id=570768&sr=posts

RFD/Forums isn't a place for him lol.

The rtings review linked is the Q60, which doesn't seem to have an 82" size. Is this in fact the same set with some one off LCD panel size? specific to Costco or something?

Nevermind, answered my own question reading the first line of the Rtings review..odd that they would just come up with an 82" size.

lol jeez RFD

I haven't been looking at OLED prices as they're not on my shopping radar for another 5 years at least.

So why did you say you could get an OLED for $1000 more?

A good 75-80" OLED will run you $6000 or so....just an fyi.

By then you are probably looking at MicroLED.

What pisses me off currently is the multiple HDR standards before even one has been settled, Apple release their OWN Dolby Vision that isn't available to anyone other than Apple products. So if you are chasing these standards, along with PS5/Xbox S who is pushing HDMI 2.1, this year is pretty bad year to buy a TV.

Wasn't there a 75" LG CX for $5K this BF and considered decent deal?

EDIT: it's a 77"

I literally researched this to death over the past few weeks.

This TV is a decent deal for 85" but it is an edge lit panel. For about $3k you can get a Sony X900h 85" which has full array. This makes a big difference for Non-oled panels, do some brief googling and you'll see why.

I think value-wise the < Samsung 75" 4K UHD HDR LED Tizen Smart TV (UN75TU6900FXZC) $899.99 till Dec. 3> is better.
